Quit Day 2, start!

Thanks all for the posts and words of wisdom.
I can firmly say that I am thru Quit day 1. The work day seemed to be the hardest for me, once I got out of work I tried to keep myself occupied until I was ready for bed.

I figured the nights would be the hardest, my normal routine after work is pretty consistent; go home or to the gym, depending on the day, but regardless every night ends the same, play video games, and just chew until sleep.
Yesterday I did go to the gym, figured it would help. I'm not very stressed at work right now (I do work for a more seasonal company, so once august rolls around it will ramp up), but the gym is always relaxing. I did notice that I felt incredible running yesterday, maybe it was just adreniline, but I still ran an extra 1.5 miles yesterday  it made me feel damn proud.

after coming home, I sat down to play some video games but quickly got bored after about an hour. This is where I think I will struggle, because I spent the next hour cleaning, but I don't think I can honestly clean everyday. I live in a tiny lock off (studio apartment) that only takes an hour to clean the entire thing.

About a month back I bought some books to occupy my time before bed, maybe in hopes I'd get a good nights rest if I started to read. After I got those books in the mail they have been collecting dust, but yesterday I rolled with the new me and read, a lot. I never read, I don't think I've actually read a book cover to cover since I was required too in high school.

Now here I am, back in the office ready to start Quit day #2.

No my dads, nor will my first born be named Phil, haven't heard that one before :X
Good sense of humor. I see you on a sorta kinda roll call, you'll learn! I quit with you today!

I would also suggest you consider jumping into the KTC chatroom or just posting on the boards as a diversion. If you are feeling craves it helps sometimes to chat with people who are going through the same thing - or have already have been through it.

Also, I don't see your roll post for today. Get over to August and post your Day 2. It doesn't seem make any sense, I know, but posting roll daily - and making that promise daily - really works.

Some helpful resources to get you going at the Welcome Center.
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

McCrackj...congrats on a very, very smart decision and welcome to KTC! Go on over to August 2018's quit group and sign your name, day count (1) and promise not to use nic for the day. Get up, and make that same promise first thing tomorrow. I know it doesn't sound like it should work, but we are all proof that it does...and when nothing else did for all of us. Breaking the back of nicotine addiction is tough - but you don't have to go it alone. Go post in August and start to support and lean on your new brothers and sisters in quit! Then read everything you can in the Facts  Figures section of the site - so you can understand your enemy (nicotine) better!

As for four hours, in the business of quit, the guy with the smallest day count is the biggest badass because it is tough. Ask each of us how we know. You can do this. No trying, just doing.
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

Quit now or you will be 33 with a wife and kids crying over a can of shit that can kill you. ItÂ’s been a tough trip for me but I am 57 days quit and am starting to see the benefits of not putting the crap in my mouth. PM me if you need some digits. DonÂ’t be afraid to call people when your struggling. We care here. People care here. I talk to guys double my age that are helpful and supportive. They always save my butt.

Hello Mccrackj,

Welcome and Congratulations! This is already a success story, every hour and every day just adds to it. One day at a time. It is simple but not easy. That is where the August quit group comes in. You all will travel each day together. My name is Brad and I am 158 days quit today. My number is just a PM away if you want it. Keep up the good work and be proud of your quit!!

Thank you for the support RDB!

I found a can at my office not too long ago and threw it in the garbage. Was a wonderful feeling!

I have found myself pretty figgity today, so I am trying to clear my head and continue reading success stories, so that one day, I too can write about my success.

Hello Everybody!

It is inspiring to see that there is an online community that can support quitting this terrible habit.

My name: Joel McCracken

Turned 25 2 days ago, ready to quit and break free from this awful addiction.
I've been chewing since I was 16, smoked a few years, went back to chew after I couldn't bare the smell on my clothes.

I hope I can stay on track, I am now 4 hours into quitting (feels like shit saying that and trying to be proud of myself).
Halfway thru the workday where I normally chew 2-4 times, the urges are real and productive-ness at work has diminished.

Trying anything and everything to just keep the thoughts out of my head.

Not sure where I am going with this, just looking for a place to vent and avoid the urges.

Cheers!
Welcome. I wish I had come to my senses and quit when I was your age.

Don't "hope" that you can stay on track. Stay on track.

There will be craves and there will be temptations. That's where this community comes into play.

Read as much as you can in this forum, and on the main KTC web site. Especially read the intros and the HOF speeches. You will read stories of how others have overcome this addiction.

Most importantly, join the Agust Quit Group. That quit group is made up of your brothers ans sisters who have all quit within a month of you. Lean on them for support, and provide support to them. Also, exchange digits with a few of them. When a crave gets really bad, reach out. My digits are just a PM away.

Also, don't be ashamed of being four hours quit. Be proud of every minute you say NO to nicotine. I'm 833 days quit! there are others on here that are +3,000 days quit. Are they any more quit than I am? Nope. Am I any more quit than you are? Nope. As long as you stay quit all day long today, you are as quit as anyone else here.

When you join your quit group, you will learn about posting roll. Posting roll is a solemn promise made to yourself, your quit group members, all of your supporters, and everyone in the KTC community that you will not use nicotine in any form for the entire day. Then you make the promise again tomorrow. That's how we stay quit - by making a promise and keeping it.

Proud to quit with you.
