BencinoMan, Obsess away!!!! Whatever it takes to "not" put the poison in your mouth!!!
YOU CAN kick the CAN!!!!!
Read all you can on this site...when you find something that sticks/clicks, book mark it to read daily...this really helps.
Be QUIT. ONE day at a TIME and your daze will stack up before you know it. Plan for the weekend, they are known quit killers......have a game plan...stay busy, exercise more, stay with support, get on this site, talk with others in your group...call 'em up!
I never did read "why" you decided to quit? Would love to hear your "why" brother!
I will quit with you today. 'bang head'
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.
It's poison I tell ya, You wouldn't drink Liquid Drano, would ya?

BencinoMan - great job on fighting the temptation. i'm only on day 2 so i can't give you all the advise these guys can but i'll tell you i've learned quickly the vets around here are awesome!
Let me add on here - its not only the vets/older guys here with more days quit - also learn from those you are side by side with in your quit groups.

A big key here is to make those connections, heck you are almost going through it simultaneously, so talk to one another become friends online, then maybe you will also see who is around nearby. you never know.....

After 13 years of being held hostage by a 2.5" round plastic/metal/cardboard/etc can....ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! 5 days ago I started this journey on my own. This morning, after realizing my finger nails are almost gone from furiously using them as "my chew", I was going to give in. I wanted one, I NEEDED one! I know my co-worker has some Wintergreen in the office next door... just ask - a simple solution  problem solved. It will just be this one... Then that little voice in my head shouted at me. Luckily I came to my senses, quickly fired up the 'net to help take my mind off the craving, and good ol' Google lead me to KTC. Reading posts of real stories, by real people have helped remind me that I am not on this DIFFICULT road alone. Knowing that support is keystrokes or mouse-clicks away is comforting. Beating this "NIC" monster is my new obsession.
you've come to the right place and have done a great thing by declining and making the decision.

PM me if you need anything and get ready for a wild ride where you will have ups and downs, where you will learn a hell of alot of information from all of the people and postings here on the site, and where you will take your life back one day at a time.

Quit with you today,
