Welcome, Kerry. Like CavMan said, it's going to suck, but it will get better...and better...and better. Reach out if you need help. I'll send you my digits in a PM.

I'm 50 years old now and I was 49 when I got here. I'm a year and a week quit after 35 years of using nicotine. You can do it too. Post roll every day and get involved with your quit group. Learn to enjoy quitting more than you ever enjoyed dipping! The suck is awful but there are plenty of threads here that you can read while you are getting through it.

I quit with you today. Stranger999 - day 371

Kbale,

Welcome to the smartest decision you've probably ever made. But be warned.....this next couple of weeks is gonna SUCK. BAD. Just go into it knowing that (at least as far as I can tell from intensive internet searching), nicotine withdrawal has never actually killed anyone. It will just feel like you're dying at times when you're craving "just one more fix". Nicotine is just as addictive as cocaine, and the withdrawal symptoms are not fun. But even after the physical stuff lets up (they tell me between three and four days), you will STILL have the mental games to deal with. And you'll experience some serious fogginess and not being able to think clearly.

BUT....stick with it. You WILL get through it and your quality of life will get SO much better. Stick around and get to know other quitters. Exchange numbers with them. Over time, they'll become an extended family.

Again, welcome. I quit with you today (and I dipped for nearly FOUR Decades.....man was I stupid....)

Oh yeah, and Ms. ChickDip giving you advice earlier today? She is one of the ABSOLUTE BADDEST QUITTERS on this site. Listen to her, she knows from whence she speaks!!

support is here for you.
it's like a vitamin, you can have it there, but if you don't use it, it doesn't have a chance to help.

great job getting on roll, now the trick is , every day you post early , it's a promise , no nic in any form.

use those links i gave you and stay connected.

Welcome to the quit! One of the greatest decisions you will ever make. A few things to help your quit
Post roll everyday, contribute to the discussion, and get some digits. I will PM you mine.
Also for the craves try using seeds, gum, fake chew, toothpicks anything to help the oral fixation.

Hi I am a 57 year old who has chewed for over 30 years. Its definetly time to quit as I am experiencing severe nasal congestion and dryness with the feel of nicotine in my sinusus. I have many dizzy spells and it is messing with my heart. I am looking for support and accountability. I know its not going to be easy, but will be well worth it in the health realm....hope I meet lots of people to encourage and be encouraged. I was a constant chewer, up to 2 cans a day and chewed out of anxiety like most people do the most. But it really didnt matter what the reason, it is the one thing that consumed my thoughts wherever I was. Time to reprogram. Any way I can share more later, but just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. My name is Kerry and am from Arizona.

thanks, me too. Still feels like death in the family cause I dod it for so long...but glad to be free.
I wanted to say that a lot of people feel like that. and brings to mind this W.O.W.
It's a really good way to look at "loosing your friend" or loosing a "family member"

kbale, way to stay connected, proud to quit with you!

* Your best friend?; By JDM, April 2016

What if your best friend routinely punched you in the lip and made your gums hurt, stole $3-4 bucks out of your wallet every day, convinced you to hide away from your wife and kids for hours at a time, talked you into staying up late every night in a zombie-like state, left disgusting stains on your clothes and around your house, and slowly - day by day - dripped poison into your body... what would you do?

We all made the can our "best friend" for years, even decades like me. Now it's time to wake the fuck up, look that "friend" in the eye and punch him square in the fucking mouth then kick his ass all the way to the gutter.

I'm pissed I ever let myself have a "friend" like that - never again! My hands are taped and I'm throwing haymakers today.

Get pissed and stay quit today brothers and sisters!

Welcome. Dip was less than $2 a can when I started.
Kbale it's awesome to have you here and glad to see you quit after all those years.

I'm quit with you
Kbale welcome to the start of a new beginning. You will learn what Normal life is. It is so awesome all the new things you will do and how much better it will be without dip. I was 12 when I started dipping, I'm 52 now. Learning how to live a normal free life has been so damn great. I wasted so much of myself and families time. Enjoy all the victories. It sucks balls but worth every damn second of whatever she deals out! Damn proud to be quit with you!
thanks pab, me too...glad to be quit.

Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD
