Hey All,

Thanks to everyone for all of your support.  I couldn't have made this this far without it.

I am going strong in the middle of day three.  Today hasn't been too bad.  Yesterday, on the other hand, was tough.  I just about lost my mind, just a ton of anxiety, fog, and rage.

During my fog yesterday, I thought about the weeks leading up to my decision to quit.  I was maybe going through a can every few days, and I could go a few hours without a dip.

Starting going through a few personal things, and I really ramped up my use.  Went from a can every few days to a can and a half a day, over the course of maybe two weeks or so.  Pretty much went that whole time with a dip in, from the time I woke up until the time I went to sleep.  Then I decided to quit cold turkey.

What really pissed me off is that Im probably the first guy to ramp up his dipping before quitting.  WTF?!?  That made yesterday just that much worse..

Had a few cravings today, but I held it together pretty well.  I'll take on tomorrow when it comes.  July quitters, keep going strong!  Lets hear how your quit is going...
Maybe you should look at it the opposite way -- it made yesterday that much better. You had a glimpse of how much worse your addiction could be, and you beat it.

Don't beat yourself up about what you did while addicted to that crap. You are a beast now, because you are beating it and moving on. You're with us, now, bro. Stay strong.
Hell yea I agree look at the positive in everything especially your quit. Stay strong watch that bitch cry when you quit every day.

I found this forum yesterday, and spent most of the day lurking. I've been dipping on and off since ~1999. Quit from 2002-2007, and started again when I was going through a rough patch. Its been on and off since then. I'll go nearly a year off the stuff, then i'll bum a dip and its on again. I want off this shit!

The sad thing is I am soon to be a health care professional. I feel like such a dick whenever someone talks about the dangers of smoking. Its this dirty little secret I have, which makes me such a hypocrite. Plus I've been getting these panic attacks lately, my blood pressure is up, and I can't sleep. Its just not worth it. I want to feel healthy again.

I gave up coffee in December, (heavy) drinking in February, and this is the next step. Help keep me honest, friends, and I will do the same for you. Its gonna suck, but I know it will be worth it!
Welcome! Keddy already told you everything to do. Post roll every morning, help each other. You can do this! You are a quitter!

You're not the only health care professional or soon to be one on this site or in the field. I used to dip in the OR just about everyday and I wasn't the only one in the room to do so. I'm also going to school for nuclear medicine and will be working with cancer patients when I'm done. Good thing I quit so I'm not right there with them getting radiation therapy instead of giving it. But you know what I'm quit and everyday I see the ones who have a dip in or go outside to smoke cigs and they're nothing more than slaves. You know what you can do. Use your experience as a dipper and help them save their life too.

Welcome to July quit group.

Good on you for taking control.

Don't look to far ahead. Resist each craving as it comes. I approach it 5 minutes at a time. That is working for now.

Read everything that you can.

Congratulations on your quit!

Note that we quit cold turkey here, meaning no nic patches, gum or tobacco products.

The central part of our program and success is posting roll call every day.
Head on over to the WELCOME CENTER (link in red at the upper left of your screen) and read all about posting roll. Then go to the July 2012 group and get started.

Also read everything you can under this link: KillTheCan.org.
Information is power when it comes to quitting.

The initial days of quitting suck, but your life is worth the fight!!
If you need anything else, just shout.
