I've done just about everything with a dip in... including having sex. It will get better after the first couple of weeks. I chew gum mostly to fight cravings.
Quit with extreme prejudice...
My orders say I'm not supposed to know where I'm taking this quit, so I don't! But one look at you and I know its gonna be hot!

Weekend plans are full of nothing.  Normally i am busy all week but weekends are down-time and that was dippin' time.  I have yard work, fix-it projects to do, same as everyone else but it was always done with a dip in before.

I plan to be on the site as much as I can.  Every morning for roll call no porblem.
The first time you mow the lawn without a dip your mind will tell you that you can't do it. You'll reach into your backpocket to find your tin is not there. You will be amazed at the other things that will trigger cravings that you never even remembered dipping. I climb a fucking ladder, like what, once a fuckin year to clean my gutters? I remember getting a ball off the roof or soemthing--soon as i hit that ladder I got a craving.

The thing to do is stay busy. And yes, stay near the site as much as you can for support. you can fight the cravings. everyday gets easier.
I keep thinking of all the things I used to do with a dip in. It is crazy. Taking a shit was the hardest thing to do without one but i think i got over that now.

My body has been on detox and it is driving me crazy. LOL
I used to put a dip in first thing in the morning and then head into the shitter lol

Any help on how i can get through my first weekend on the Quit.  I will be at day 6 and 7 and i am looking for suggestions to help me through those times when i would chew on the long days with no work.

Post here or shoot me a message.  Thanks.
Stay close to the site. Stock up on supplies (gum, mint snuff, etc.), don't drink, jack off a lot so it'll feel better.
Dave pretty much hit the nail on the head. Can't emphasize enough how much I recommend not drinking for a while. I found that hanging out in the chat room helped me quite a bit the first couple weeks. Drop on in over the weekend.
Stay home, don't drink, stay away from dipping buddies.

Give us a rundown of your plans and we will critique them.

Captn, please let me begin by saluting a higher ranking brother and congrats on your 51 days.  I will be there soon.

I did not word my reason for quitting well and I apologize.  It is for me and like you i want to be there to enjoy all the things my life has.  I have never been the type to put me first, it is always the others in my life.  Perhaps I worded it the wrong way.

Make no mistake, i am here for myself first.  it is my addiction and only i can beat it.  This will be done with my family at home and here.  I may not post all the time, but i am here all day long reading and re-reading to make it stick.

Thanks again for your words, i know i will need them in the coming days and weeks.
Great to hear and totally understand. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Congrats on your decision to quit. When you commence reading and re-reading topics in this forum, you will notice a common point that is driven into our pea-sized, fog-ridden brains: Posting early and posting often (minimum everyday) is the key to success in these here hallowed grounds.

Take on some fellow quit brother phone numbers, text/call these fine quitters when in dire straits (or just to shoot the shit). If you need anything that I can help you with, PM me and I will give you my number.

Stay here and stay quit. Advice to live by.............

I started when I was 18 cause it was the better thing to do than smoke. I have been at it since then and never thought I would quit cause it was my decision. Now i have to make decisions for my daughter and son. I realized that life is not about me anymore and my actions influence them.

So, 17 years later I am giving it up. When I reach 100 days it will be on my 35th birthday. A celebration for life and living the rest of it.

Great decision to quit and joining this site is an even better one cause it will help you stay quit. However, you need to be willing to do the work and use the resources this site has to offer. You need to read everything on this site. It's obvious that you haven't done so otherwise you would have come across the fact that you cannot quit for anyone else but you - it will work no other way. I know that not just becasue I read it on KTC, but because I've lived it. The first time the person you're quiting for pisses you off you will run, not crawl, back to the nic bitch just to spite them. I'm on day 51 thanks in large part to this site and that I've finally accepted the quiting for me as fact. Before it was because my wife and baby daughter need me. Now it's because I need to be there to experience all the great milestones awaiting my daughter (first day of school, graduations, marriage, kids, etc.) and awaiting my wife and I as a couple (daughter growing up, another kid, retirement, growing old together, etc.). You need to do this for you and we're here to help. Use the site and all of it's great resources. The best resource on this piece are the men and woman who are the recovering addicts that make it run and effective.
