Tim welcome aboard. Tons of cops here, tons of marines here, tons of ex dippers here who spent at least 24 years with that yoke around there necks. So welcome aboard, you should find there are a lot of us who know what you are about. I was a. dipper for 28 years, for at least 20 of those years I wanted to quit. I lied to my wife about quitting, got caught multiple times, and finally got sick of living a lie to my wife. Sound a little familiar?
Here's my advice to you. First, Quitting dip is hard. Don't expect by using this site that we've found some secret to making quitting easier...we haven't. You are going to get cravings for dip that are going to seem over powering. But because all of us have faced down the same cravings we know you can too. So put your seat belt on and get ready to fight.
Second, this is not a war against dip. This is a war against your addiction to dip. Seems like symantecs but it's not. I think each of us quitters has had a real desire to take back our lives and to stop listening to the addict within. The addict is going to tell you stuff like, "bumming a dip from others is ok, just don't buy any". Or "just buy a can, have one dip then throw it out" or"your teeth hurt, putting a dip in will make them feel better". At the time these crazy fucking ideas are going to make a lot of sense to you. But you need to recognize them for what they are...addict talk. From here on out you decide what goes in your mouth...not the addict within you. Good luck.
