I happened apon this site just a couple days ago. I had Googled advice on quitting chewing. Here I am.
Well, I quit last Sunday. I haven't used since. Yes, it's only 4 days, but that's a miracle for me. I have had the headaches. I have had the foggy head. I have snapped at people. And to think, I only have the rest of my life to go.
I went to the doctor about a week before I was going to quit. I had him write me up for some pills. I got an anti-depressant. It has been a big help.
I remember sitting there, on my couch...holding my can in my hand...and KNOWING...I was about to have my LAST DIP. I think I kept it in for an hour.
I am not going back. I know that. I also know that I am going to struggle with it for life. I LOVED chewing. It was part of my life for 16 years.
To go about this introduction, backwards, all be it, my name is Steve. Your site has a lot of useful information. I don't know if I'll visit often, but I wanted to wish everyone luck with the battle. Take care.
Steve -

If you are serious about being quit, you need to come back to this site every single day and post roll with everyone else.

You don't need to think about quitting for the rest of your life...that is a long freaking time dude. How about quitting ONE DAY at a time and making the promise to the rest of us that you will not chew today? I made that promise this morning...and guess what...I am not going to chew today. Today is all that matters.

If, however, you are not serious about this...then get serious. This is a real addiction...if it wasn't, none of us would be here to support each other. You need to be accountable to someone other than yourself...this site is an amazing resource that costs you nothing but gives you a chance to be nicotine free.

PM me if you need anything, come on this forum and get your anger out rather than taking it out on those around you. We can take it and we understand exactly what you are going through...this will be the best choice you ever made!

Glad to quit with you,

aredoubleyou

Steve - Great decision and I hope that you will get involved on this site. I am at day 15 and the biggest thing that it does is force you to just committ to quitting one day at a time. If I start going down the road of "forever" it freaks me out. Check out the welcome page and if you are ready to quit with me and the rest of June, just post roll and make it happen. You can do this. -ww

Steve:

Congrats on making the decision to quit. One thing you say does trouble me. While you sounds like you are done you have indicated you are not sure if you will return here. Let me be the first to tell you that quitting here, amongst hundreds of fellow quitters on a daily basis, WILL keep you quit. Check out the "Welcome Center" above and see what this place is all about, read about posting roll, etc. I used for 21 years and am 232 days clean today. No way I would still be quit without coming back to KTC every single day. What are you willing to do to remain quit?

Shout if you need anything.
