Hello. I just made it through my third day dip free. I have been addicted for 17 years (a nice gift from the military). I was a Copenhagen Wintergreen guy. I got to the point that I was just so sick of doing it but then so frustrated because I couldn't stop. I was sick of needing a bottle to spit in. I was sick of planning my day around when I could get a nice, long dip in. I just got sick of it. I have tried to quit before and actually made it a few months before I caved in. I am very determined this time to make it permanent. I don't want my two young boys to see me doing it and think it is OK. This is the first time I have tried quitting with a support website like this one. It's nice to relate to others who are having the same struggles. Good luck fellow quitters.
Welcome to KTC! A couple thoughts to keep your quit strong:

Drink lots of water, exercise until you drop, read the words of wisdom etc on this site.

At 3 days, the nicotine is out of your system (or will be soon). Now your quit becomes mental.

Dip controlled our day because nicotine is addictive. We need to build a response to the addiction that does not include poisoning ourselves. We do this one day at a time to retrain our brains.

The key to success is posting roll -- our promise to use no nicotine in any form for one day. One day we can do, no matter how great the headaches or craves. This is simple, yet very hard. So we post that promise in public in our quit group (October 2016 pre hall of fame for you). There we join other quitters at the same stage of quit -- and hold eachother accountable to make that daily promise.

We also do all our cursing and raging in the group or on this site -- our families do not need to be hit with that.

Just get through today, that's enough. Let permanently work itself out. Over time those +1 s add up and we heal. Life at 434 days for me is much better than before I quit when I was enslaved by nicotine. I am happy to quit with you today.
^^^^^ I can't say it any better than that, So let me just say, Welcome to the group!
This my 1s time quitting with a support group as well. Your quit group is October. Make sure to head over there and post roll

Post roll every day and early in the day. WUPP (Wake Up Piss Post) is our motto. It's a promise to the group and yourself that youÂ’re not going to use nicotine, not a report on how you did at the end of the day. The idea is that as you go through the day and have an urge to dip youÂ’ll remember that you made a promise to your brothers that you wouldnÂ’t dip today.

Click on the following link for a video on posting roll. It helped me out. PC How to post roll

Congrats on your decision to quit
I quit with you today mglowicki!
Just one and you will be back where you started.
And where you started was desperately wishing
you were where you are right now.

Hey dude, congrats on your 3rd day! Much of what you said is similar to my situation, I would make sure that each day no matter what I would have time where I could chill out and enjoy a long dip, even if that meant waking up early to do it. Its truly sick that a substance can have that much control over daily life. Your two boys should be big motivators in your quitting process. The reason I started dipping was because my step-dad was a big dipper and I thought it was "cool". Make sure it doesn't happen to your sons, and remind yourself everyday why you decided to quit. Stay the course.
