I found this site 3 weeks into my quit. I read a lot and it helped. Do you want to know what helps even more? Posting roll as described below. We quit 1 day at a time by posting roll. When you post roll and write, MDquitter - 9 - I quit, it is trans-formative. I promise. Join us. Give me a shout if you want to chat or need some help. You can count on me.

I am on day 9 of my quit and feeling pretty good.  I didn't discover this website until day 4 of my quit, but it has helped immensely.  Reading all of the great articles and knowing that this website and support community exists.

Background:  My first go around with dipping was June 2009 until late may/early june 2010 with Skoal or Grizz long cut.  I quit for the summer so that my gums would be in good shape for the dentist visit in august. I fully intended to resume dipping after the appointment and promptly went and did so.  My second go around was mid August 2010 until December 2011, primarily with skoal or grizz pouches (thought it was better for my health, stupid yes).  I have been trying to quit since may of 2011 (when i graduated college), but its been a lot of 2-3 day stoppages and then dipping a can a day for a week straight type experiences.  Finally made the commitment to myself to quit and i think most importantly I finally admitted to myself that I was addicted.

anyway, i am glad to be here and really appreciate this website.
Welcome MDQ. Have you posted roll?

Check out the pink/salmon 'Welcome Center' tab at the top of the board for instructions. Your quit group is April (like me) because that is when you will hit 100 days. But basically it breaks down to three simple steps:

1. Post Roll First Thing In the Morning with your Promise not to Dip/use Nicotine
2. Don't dip/use nicotine
3. Repeat in 24 hours.

Simple. Not easy, but simple.
