102 Days Quit
« on: April 09, 2012, 07:48:00 PM »
I hit my goal of 100 days quit 2 days ago. It was quite a ride looking back to the start on December 30th. I spit out my last dip at 3:00pm and wondered into the fog. I quit for my first time when I was 20 years old and in the Marine Corps. I started back up after 3 months using the excuse that I got bored out in the field. I haven't quit since I started back up then (19 years ago). I've been an addict for probably 21 years or more.
When I started my quit I found KTC and thought what an awesome resource. I started to post for a day or two even though I knew I was unable to post consistently due to my job. I soon realized that there was no way I would attempt to be part of "APRIL" because I couldn't be counted on to post. I refuse to let people down. In the first couple days of using KTC (and in a DEEP fog) I got pissed off at a couple people who said I needed to stay away from beer. I tried to explain that I drank real beer and didn't just drink rice water to get drunk. It's kind of like having coffee in the morning to me. Any way, these 2 individuals wanted to be smart asses (over the internet) which made me want to pinch the bear (and kick their asses). Needless to say I stayed away from the group postings even though a good guy (bigbama??) or something like that stayed after me. I'm pretty hard headed so there was no way I was doing the group thing any more. The "FOG" was way more intense than I had expected. I knew I was a hard core dipper but had no idea how addicted I was. Luckily I was on a weeks vacation when I started my quit and didn't have to go to work and act like a weirdo. I even had a couple guys contact me and explain the 2 guys who were giving me shit about drinking were just douche bags, which I appreciated. I really appreciated the articles and what to expect that KTC offered me. KTC was a huge assistance in my dominance over the can. Even though some of the KTC support group just pissed me off more than anything, I still know that KTC was a big part of my quit. As I'm enjoying a Full Sail ESB Ale and still remain 102 days nicotine free, I look back to the several gallons of beer I brewed and drank during my quit. Maybe drinking and quiting don't work for some but it worked great for me. I've put on 10 extra pounds and tore up some sunflower seeds during my quit so I know what's next. Tonight I drink to not only the quitters of April but to all quitters. I'm never putting that shit in my mouth again....period. Thanks to KTC for the great resources available to quitters. Be strong and never allow yourself any excuse to start again.
