Thanks worktowin and Chickdip, I really should check on this thread more often.

Today, 648 days quit is no magic number, it doesn't mark any years or special numbers. But in my case as I was unable to sleep this morning I realized I might want to document this day. Probably the reason I am up so early and couldn't go back to sleep is today is the most major job change for me in over 20 years. Slightly over 20 years ago I went to work in a factory making construction equipment. There over half the employees either smoked or dipped. Then about ten years ago they banned smoking inside. About 5 years ago they banned tobacco use on the premise. Then 2 years ago they added a $100 surcharge onto health insurance for tobacco use. Still many people on the floor did not stop dipping or smoking they were just a lot more sneaky about it. Still a few people have been terminated for smoking on the property.

But starting today I am beginning a new challenge with a new job in a different department. I am so glad I have already quit because this would be even more challenging if I had not. As of today I go to work for quality control and am no longer on the shop floor all day. I would no longer have a tractor to duck behind to slide in a dip. Instead I would have to duck in my cubicle and hope no one walked by. Or go to the bathroom and dip in the stall. It would be so much more risky. The offices used to have a lot of lenience because the plant manager was a smoker. Now though the plant manager is a strict non smoker and there is no lenience. Nobody was terminated for smoking on the premises until he came. I am thankful that I quit 648 days ago and don't have to learn a new job with nic rage involved. Almost everyone on the shop floor has a goal of ending up somewhere like Quality Control some day. But many of them don't dare actually do it because they know what would happen if they got caught using tobacco in the offices.

375 = one full year of winning.

Go celebrate with some nachos tonight, but if you decide to bike I'd be careful on the ice! Enjoy this huge milestone!
Congrats on 1yr Bike. Nicely done. No biking in the ice though
I actually love bicycling on ice just not on the roads. I live a half mile away from the bicycle path that runs alongside the river for over 20 miles one way. I have been out cycling on it when there was anything from ice to 10" of snow on the ground.

Several years ago during a snow storm I was bicycling up that path and as I was passing under a bridge I noted a homeless man standing there. I could not help but notice that he had no gloves on. My goal that day was 20 miles and as I rode by I decided if he was still there when I headed back home I would go buy him a pair of gloves. I got another mile and a half up the path and there was a pair of gloves lying right next to the bicycle path. Now mind you it was snowing like mad. The gloves were dry and lying on top of the snow and still had the packaging with the gloves stapled together. I did not need anyone to tell me what to do with those brand new gloves. I grabbed them up and turned my mountain bike around and rode back to that bridge. The man was still under there and was so happy to get a pair of gloves. I believe those gloves were placed by God to be on top of the snow, brand new and still dry.
That is so awesome ! Reading that made my day. Good work brother. Very proud to be quit with you! We'll done.
Things happen for a reason. You found those gloves for a reason. You found ktc for a reason.

Congrates on 350 days of Bad Assed Quit! Enjoy your last big round number quit day before 1 year.
Thanks Matt, I thought today about when I joined this site and I had so much admiration for vets who already had over 300 days quit. Now I just consider 350, a year to be a step. I have already proclaimed a comma to be my next goal. I chewed cat dung for 31 years and realize I can't stop quitting after a year or two. My past experience as an alcoholic has actually helped me here. I have not had a drink of alcohol for 21 years but realize one slip is all it would take for a downward spiral. Tobacco is he same way. One dip and the addiction has returned.
Winning is too sweet dude. Congratulations!
Still one day at a time but 350 is sort of a sweet spot. Congrats brother and thanks a lot for the support! :)
