Hey there guys,

Well I'm not quite sure what to say. My name is Mat I'm 28 and I've been chewing for about 7 years now. I started up when i was in the Navy and I'm to the point in my life now where i really need to kick this habit. I quit for about 30 days a couple years ago but started up again and this last weekend just decided it was time. I picked up the Nicotine patches from Costco on Sunday and wanted Monday to be my first day, but i still had some chew in my can(can't let that stuff go to waste i told myself  )
So i dumped what i had yesterday morning and put the patch on. Last night was a bit rough, but i picked up a can of smokey mountain and had a couple of those, why they chose to put the corn silk in there is beyond me haha but oh well. Feelin pretty good this morning, rode my bicycle to work and here we are.
Why i'm choosing to quit, the main reason being my overall health and gums. My step dad and father in law were both chewers and have lost their teeth because of it, i don't want to be that person if i can help it. But one of my biggest reasons to quit is my desire to do more active healthy outdoorsy stuff. I purchased a mountain bike a couple years ago and i really want to get in to single track downhill, fast stuff. Had to do that when you can barely pedal up a hill!
So that's me in a can, happy to be here with fellow quitters!
Posting roll, day 1 down, day two is lookin sunny!
Welcome Mat to the best decision of your life! There isn't much that I can say that hasn't already been said in this thread.

Like so many others have already said, this is a no nic site. PERIOD. The sooner you ditch all forms of nicotine and go through the suck, the better off you'll be. Don't prolong it and make your body go through the suck twice, that's just cruel to yourself!

So in that case, listen to what these guys have to say...especially the vets, they've been through it and know what to expect. Know that it isn't going to be easy but that's why we are all here to help you and support you! You can send any of us a PM and we'll make sure that we get you through this shit.

Quit and be BAD ASS as fuck with the sluts!
KEEP CALM AND CHIVE ON

Look at that - two excuses balled into once sentence.

Ditch the excuses. Trash the patches. Just quit. Life is gonna suck while wearing patches, because you're getting a lowered dose of nicotine than you previously got. That causes withdrawal symptoms.

Then, eventually (when you're done with the patches), there comes a day that you have to function with absolutely ZERO nicotine in your system. That causes withdrawal symptoms..... again.

So, simplify your life and just skip the painful drawn-out "taper-down" program. Just quit. In the end, that's what it comes down to anyway.

Shoot some of us a personal message if you need help or have questions.

Mat,

the patch is keeping the poison in your system, rip off the bandaid and man up.

even one milligram of nicotine will keep you hooked.

The quicker you rip the patch off and ride the SUCKIness all the way through the sooner you will feel better.

Don't use your family as an excuse to cave.

the patch is not quit.
Matt, I'm 5 days quit (accidentally posted 4 this morning on roll because (spoiler alert!) I'm a little foggy during the beginning of my quit). It's tough, but doable. I'd love to have another guy to quit with brother. Come join us in the Sep group and let's re-take our lives together free from nicotine one day at a time.
We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

Has tobacco been so kind to you that you should leave it with regret? There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

Come join us. Come be quit with us. Rather than slowly commit suicide, slowly regain your health. It might hurt at first, but it won't kill you. And once the birthing process is done you'll find yourself a free man. With friends. And health. And wealth. Come drink at the fountain of quit.

Sounds like you got the rights attitude, now ya need to listen to what these folks are saying: no nic site. you being on them there patches = you are not quit yet. gotsta be cold turkey.

once you do that, sounds like you know what to do. that involves exercise (ridin' that bike to work there superb way to help out), lots o water, and just doing whatever you have to to stay quit. Sm. Mtn is fine, seeds, shredded jerky, all good.

take that step...post roll with Sept. let's get your quit started Mat.....

From past experience I can tell you that those patches prolong the misery.  Cold turkey is the fastest way to get past the suck. Rip the band aid off. You heal a lot faster! Glad to see you here! We will help and support anyway we can! Just got to be NIC free 100%.

Great idea, Matt. But like the guys have told you, we are QUITTERS...not patch-wearing folks.

Here's what to do...dump your stash in the crapper, shit-can those patches, and post Day 1 with the bad-ass quitters on this site. We've got your back, but you must take the first step. That means NIC FREE...ALL TYPES.

Yes it will suck. But the Nic Bitch doesn't let you go just for the asking. You have to earn your freedom. And YOU CAN DO IT. Now, let's stop screwing around with nicotine and quit like fuck right now. What do you say?

Hello Matt, welcome to KTC. It's important to point out that we are nic free site. That means we are cold turkey my friend. That means we will not put any nicotine into our bodies, every day. Does not matter if it's smoked, or patched, or injected.

So, while we want you to jump into KTC, and swim in the water of bad ass quit, you need to rip that patch off, sack up and go cold turkey brother. Once you decide you dont that shit, then join in the September group and start being quit like fuck with us.

Let's face it planned quits don't work and neither does coming down on those patches, you are just prolonging having to go through the suck. It's time to divorce the bitch that has been keeping you a slave for the last 7 years. I am 20+ year chewer, if I can you can. Do it, it will change your life.

Alright there killer, no patch...take it off. You are only prolonging the misery. Your reasons to quit are solid, but this is a no nic site...reach out to the vets here, most are pretty good people that want to help...you got this bud...
Boy I sure could use a beer right about now!
