Geralt, glad you joined KTC despite your less orthodox delivery method. I held off joining for a long time because I was a smoker, not a dipper. I am so grateful a friend - a brother here - rode my ass until I did. We are all addicts, we all understand each other, we all can support each other on this journey.

I will tell you what my friend texted me the day of my first roll post: Congratulations, you just drank the Kool-aid. You will never touch nicotine again.

So proud to be quit with you. Please pm me if you need digits or support.
Appreciate the support!

This is what is cool about this site. I am quitting with guys from Canada, Guam, Texas, Wisconsin, and a few others I haven't figured out yet where they are from. Geralt, we are all the same, addicted and trying to save our selves.

I'm glad you are in the group with me - May MOFO '17, fight or die brother. We quit together.
To remain quit requires focus

Quote from: Geralt
Where do I start? I started off as a smoker at age of 14 years old. I started the habit, which led to the addiction after doing it time after time at parties and hang outs. I did that for 2 years. Then at the age of 16 I was introduced to the “areca nut” or known on the Pacific islands as betel nut. They would split the nut in half then insert a lime powder and leaf (pupulu) and cigarette then start chewing. All fluids are spat out. Yes, kinda complicated to explain.

Chewing this for 15+ years! The areca nut is an addictive plant/nut and of course mixing it with cigarette doubles the addiction. Although the “mix” contains 2 items that are addictive, I believe it is not as harmful as the dip (tobacco directly in contact with gums).

So you might be asking why is Geralt in KTC when what he was chewing is a very different product. Well, based on what IÂ’ve read, the experience : high or buzz and withdrawals are almost identical to what are experienced by dippers. KTC brothers and sisters support, share experiences, scold, and keep each other in check to ensure that all quitters STAY QUIT!

ANYWAY! I’m here to get support to stay quit. Nicotine has gotten me passed difficult times and I don’t know how I would have handled all those late nights of studying, stressful times at work, and life’s ups and downs if I hadn’t had my mix by my side keeping my focus and adrenaline up. Yet, I and we all know that all those positive experiences came with a huge price: years of my life. I don’t know how many years I shaved off my life, but all I know is that I’m willing to do what I can to keep whatever years I haven’t fucked up, nicotine/nuclear chemical fucken free in hopes that I get to heal and save X amount of years of my life that I will use to live like I haven’t lived since I took that first puff and chew. I want to be there for my family and I want to be a great example to my kid. Most of all, I want and will get “me” back; the me that nicotine has made a memory of; the me that was tobacco free.

Thank you for your time and support. Great decision to all new quitters and thank you to all quit vets for the continued support!
Welcome aboard geralt! Addiction sucks my friend and for me I need help every day! Brotherhood and accountability works. Stay focused, read all you can and yes it gets so much better. When? Well everyone is different and know one person can actually tell you that but it's worth every damn day of struggle that you go through. Damn proud to be quit with you! Quit on!
Welcome sir!

Nicotine helped you do only one "good" thing in life. Only one. It did not help you at work. It did not help you pass any tests or study for school. It didn't help you relax. The only thing, and I mean the only thing it did was take away the withdrawal of not using it. One day at a time, you will see this truth.

Here's a link to some facts about the Areca Nut. It doesn't sound safe... don't fool yourself. We all tried justifying... dip is safer than smoking, or somesuch nonsense. Addiction makes us say lots of crazy things. So I'm glad you are quit!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Areca_nut

I'm glad you are here, though yesterday in the Midwest US the windchill was like 10 degrees, and you are quitting under a ?! Dude you can do this. Remember, each day is a step forward to freedom, and each day is a win. Tell us more about this Pacific island life too man! Quit with you today.
Worktowin, thank you for your response. Great point about the addiction not having anything to do with getting me through life. Thinkin about it more, I guess you are right! Yes, quittin under tropical weather, but i wish I had the cold to distract my thoughts. Stayin QUIT baby!
You are winning dude! Lots of posts, posting daily, you are doing this the right way. Keep doing this one day at a time. The rest will take care of itself!

Honored to quit with you today!

Quit on!
Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD
