I have a 7 year old son who once asked me what I has sucking on and if he could have some. That was in March. In April I quit. I didn't quit for my son. I love him more that I love myself... but he didn't make me quit.... I could explain it away to him. "daddy's midday snack - none for you" .... "adults only, buddy".... "...you wouldn't like it - it tastes like farts..." (I've used all of these)

I quit because -for some reason - I was ready. I didn't even realize I was ready. I was just ready.

My guess is you're ready. The kids are a great excuse - we all need milestones to mark major decisions in our life - we need to rationalize them... but maybe your just "ready."

129 days ago I was ready. After 26 years, I was ready. You're ready. Go post roll. Make your promise. Then do it again tomorrow.

Dude, my 8 year old thought he was going to take a big swig of Daddy's Coke - only we all know the end to that story - it wasn't Coke. Even that wasn't enough to get me to quit. And yes, he remembers that!!! He is 10 now, and just the look on his face when I told him that I was done was enough to get me through day 2. That's all I need. Now I will get through day 3.

Welcome Leather. Best decision of your life. Like 8up said, go over to December and post roll. When you post roll, that is the equivalent of you looking us in the eye and telling us you will not use nicotine today under any circumstances. Period. End of story. Worry about today and tomorrow will take care of itself. You have a some tough times ahead of you, but many of us have been in your shoes and will gladly tell you that it gets better than you can ever imagine. Just gut the next couple weeks out. If you need any help dont be afraid to ask.

All this stuff is kinda tricky to figure out. I'm still tryin to hang out, read stuff, and figure out what's goin on. It's a little more complicated than fb. Last night was good. I havent dipped in 25 hours, 37 minutes. I'm not entirely sure if that makes me day 1 or day 2. I thought I'd play it safe and reset to this morning. Dont wanna try to sneak an extra day of credit when I dipped on the way to work yesterday. The way I figure, this is my first day of being quit.

If yesterday was the day you quit, then it was day 1. Today would be day 2. But most importantly, you have given us your word that you will not use nicotine TODAY. So do whatever it takes and be a man of your word TODAY. We'll deal with tomorrow when it gets here.

So about a week ago I'm driving to Buffalo Wild Wings with my 6 year old son and one of his baseball teammates in the back seat. I'm doin the same thing I been doin since June of '95, driving with a dip in my mouth, when my sons friend says "what's in this water bottle back here? Why's it brown?" It sucks when a grown ass man has to be embarassed by a 6 year old to realize something has to change. That's not even the worse part. My son says "that's some stuff my dad always has in his mouth. He has to spit it in there." I'll tell you what, it started eating away at me right then and there. Something had to give, and it finally gave last night. I'm day 1 quit and I pray my son doesn't remember me having that shit rolling around my floorboard.
