I've dipped for almost a year now. I dipped nothing but Copenhagen Southern Blend. And I've tried to quit multiple times for my girlfriend but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. but last week I seen what it was actually doing to her. And that's when I knew I had to stop. It hasn't been that hard. Till today. Today has been terrible. I've been burning up. My heads been hurting. My head has just been out there. Like, I'm just not thinking like normal. I'm not thinking at all. My anger has been really short today. And Ive been craving it so much today. I'm so glad I've stopped. But it so hard. I'd really like some advice on what's worked for other people when they first quit to stay away from dipping again.

My advice is to post roll and get involved. Quitting is hard, but can be done.

8_Toes....

You gonna post up or what? You see, the bedrock of KTC style quitting is the daily promise to your brothers and sisters in quit that you are not going to use today. So, post up....guess this would be day 6?

Welcome.

First - I want to make sure you know one thing - you have got to be quitting for yourself, and yourself only. You cannot quit for your girlfriend. At some point, you will grow to resent her for it. Negative consequences are part of the addiction - please realize that you are addicted to nicotine, and that you are an addict. The only way to quit is because you want to be quit, and not because someone wants you to quit.

As far as the anger and feeling terrible - your body does not want to function without the drug. Remember, you are an addict. Your brain is rewiring itself. Nobody can tell you how long it's going to last, it's different for everyone. But, next week will probably be better than last week. What I can tell you for sure is that the freedom is worth it. Break the addiction before it gets a 20 year grip on you.

Find the November quit group. Post roll. That's our daily promise to each other to not use nicotine in any form. Take out your anger on your brothers and sisters in quit. Quit one day at a time. The support you will get here is amazing. But there is a price of admission, and that's posting roll.

Don't worry about screwing up roll. The only way to screw it up is by not posting roll. Read a lot. Drink lots of water. Stay quit. You stay quit by refusing to cave. That's it.
Yep, this exactly.

You have to want this and to want it badly. Not for anyone else. It has to be your desire to be free that drives this. Maybe your GF can be the catalyst, but the actual quit has to come from you.

Quick hypothetical. If she dumps you tomorrow, will you still stay quit? If the answer is no, then you will fail regardless. 100%, no question.

Now, if you want to commit to this, then buckle up. It's going to suck, it's going to hurt and it might turn your life upside down in some ways. HOWEVER, it will not kill you, it will get better and with the right tools you can get through it.

So think about what you want and make a decision. If you are quit, then some simple advice. For a month at least, this is your mantra: Double your water, halve your caffeine, cease your alcohol.

Exercise. Learn a new skill that occupies your hands/ mind. Distract yourself. You can do this and we can help, but you have to want it.
