Congrats on the first day. Keep it up. Post roll call everyday and stay on this site whenever you crave.

The nic bitch is killing and disfiguring folks every few minutes in the US. Are you going to fight back? I am.

Would you turn somebody down who is asking for help in the fight? I woundn't either.

It is a struggle, but the stakes couldn't be higher.

First work day DONE! Holy Cow that was hard. But a huge victory since I use to dip during work too. Thanks everyone again for your support!

I just got married a week ago and I promised myself and my fiance that after the honeymoon would be the time that I quit.
This is the best, your wife is involved in the quit. Other than the support you will get from reading the stuff on this site and what everyone else has gone through, - you wife will be the greatest foundantion for quitting. I told my wife what was going on - we even read the 100 benefits of quitting chew together - 2 hour shits and 4 hour showers for a quick dip - turns out she knew what was going on.

Keep her and the fellas on this site involved - you will stay quit. Post roll - believe what you see here.

this is very good advice from scooners.

One important thing to point out, and I'm not saying I believe this to be the case, just want to make it known.

thomarti, you need to make damn sure you are quitting for yourself and not because it's something your wife wants you to do. Has to be for you...now having her there to support and get involved is awesome...just can't be her behind you with a cow prod saying "quit." If that is the case the first little fight the two of you get in, I've got a $100 saying dip would be the first thing you run to.

Hope that make sense.
Woops - yup, right on - gotta a personal quit. My wife tolerated my chewing for years - never asked me to quit once, but I knew it was on her mind. Once I made the choice to quit - I brought her on board, but it does need to be about you.
These guys are correct. First and foremost your quit MUST be for you. If that is the case then welcome to the site.

Go over to Jan and get to know your brothers. Plenty of boobies over there.. I always forget what I am doing when I visit.

bamadan is 100% right. You can get support from your wife but in no way should you quit for her. I will see your $100, and raise you $100.

Quit for you and you only. Your wife will reap the benefits with you.
thomonkey-

listen to these guys, they know whats up,

Course you could be like me and swear you're going to quit after" I graduated high school, then after I graduated college, then after I got married, then after I had my first kid, then my second kid, then my third kid, when I turn 20, 30, 40. you can play that game for 20 or thirty years if you want."

All that shit is just an excuse to keep dipping, a drug addict extending his or her alloted time to abuse the drug of choice.

Maybe you can quit right after your first biopsy for that eraser sized lump on your cheek, or just quit right after your first round of chemo, or quit after your nic induced high blood pressure gives you your first stroke, Even better wait to quit until you've wasted $10 a day for 15 years ( $54,750) then quit. Because quitting is just too hard to do right now. Wait to quit until your addiction fucks with your marriage and you get your first divorce.

Nah, no need for that, just quit when your laying in your hospital bed with half your face cut out, drugged out of your mind on pain killers, with a feeding tube in your arm because you can't swallow. When you look up into your bride's teary eyes from your death bed, THATS WHEN YOU"LL QUIT FOR SURE.

Quit now.. and quit hard

sM
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

I am 29 years old and I started using dip in college to take the place of cigarettes. (Obviously, a bad choice) After almost 9 years of dipping and 1 full year of now being addicted to the nicorette chewing gum) I am ready to stop chewing the gum/dipping. I just got married a week ago and I promised myself and my fiance that after the honeymoon would be the time that I quit. Well here I am, day one sitting at my office desk. My brian has been pretty cloudy for most of the morning and I haven't been very productive at all. I'm pretty sure its a 50/50 from being on vacation and not having nicotine.
Hang tight and buckle in...it's going to be a rough few days. Drink lots of water and stock up on the seeds and gum. You can do it...we have all done it...one day at a time. Not easy but oh so worth it. It is amazing how well the body performs when you quit shoving in poison.

Post your word, keep your word. A pretty fool proof plan, pending you are a man of your word. You got this. Just remember that you will never regret quitting, only possible thing you could regret is not quitting.
