Thanks gmann. That's good advice. I quit successfully for a year before. Don't think about never having another dip. Try not to think about it at all. But, if you have to, think in terms of hours or minutes. The thought of never dipping again can seem impossible.

Welcome aboard.

"Hope" and "luck" and "try" will have nothing to do with your quit. Let that be the first thing you learn here. Your attitude and mindset must not be wishy-washy.

"I will". "Do". Add these words to your vocabulary. To succeed, you cannot leave room for failure. Be definitive.

Here at QSX, this attitude I speak of is referred to in various ways by the quitters. Call it what you will - big balls, intestinal fortitude, manning up, whatever. The point is, get the mindset right. Don't "try" to quit. Just quit. We aren't going to wish you luck, because we don't believe in it. Some things are just too important to be left up to luck.

You take this mindset, and add to it the tools that this place will provide you.

This will be the difference between your many failed attempts in the past, and a successful quit.

This place works because of accountability. If you are a man of your word. Go to the May 2011 quit group every day, and give them your word that you will not use nicotine that day. Then keep your word for that day. Come back and do it again the next day. Trust us, it works.

Again, welcome aboard.

Hello, First day for me as well. Hope it lasts, because I've been down this road many times over the past 30 years.

Hope? If I was "hoping" to quit, I'd still be shoving that shit in my mouth. Hopin' and wishin' is easy. Quittin' is hard. I assume the thought of never having another dip is quite scary to you, right? It was (and still is) for me.

Don't think about forever. Or next year. Or next month. Or even tomorrow. Just post roll on this site and pledge not to use nicotine today. Then come back in the morning and do the same.

Welcome.
Wait, there's two new guys on this thread. Welcome to you both.

Hey everyone. Day 1 for me. Actually hasn't started yet. Going to the store to stock up on gum, seeds, and anything else that will help. Then it begins. Took some vacation days from work. For some reason, it's 10 times harder not to dip at work. Gonna lay on the couch and sweat it out like a heroin addict. A little background on me: Started dipping Kodiak about 20 years ago with a group of people that were just interested in the buzz it gave you. Everyone else did it for a few days and quit. Only me and my closest friend growing up continued. Long story short, that friend just had part of his gum removed and is now being tested to see if the cancer has spread anywhere else. Scared the hell out of me! His diagnosis is hopeful. They think they got it all when they cut out the gum. I actually quit for an entire year once before. But went back to it like a dumbass! I'm 34 now. Got 20 years of dipping under my belt, and don't want 21! Wish me luck!!
Welcome to the site! It's day ten for me, and let me tell you, it'll be a tough few days/weeks ahead. But, we're all in this together and all here for each other. When you commit to quit, go post roll in your HOF Class (you'll be in May 2011). Post roll every day, hold yourself accountable, hold your brothers accountable. It's such a great feeling to be rid of that nicotine bitch!
Welcome aboard. Your success will not depend on luck. It depends on you, your will, your willingness to support others and your plan. Post every single freaking day and then keep your promise to me. I will keep my promise to you.

You have chosen wisely. Welcome aboard.
