Before I take another dip I WILL:
1) Look my children in the face and tell them that tobacco is more important to me than they are.
2) I will also look my wife in the face and tell her that while I do love her, I love tobacco more.
3) Resign myself to the fact that I want to die a slow painful death of my own creation while simultaneously creating financial hardship for my family.
4) I will also call 4 members of KTC and get permission from each of them to take a dip.
Pay it forward, you have!

WOW! I will live by these words as I continue this awesome journey of QUIT.

Thanks MOA!!

That is what it is all about around here: "Pay it forward". Some old timers took me by the hand and walked me into the light 500 days ago. Now it is my turn so lets walk my brother. You can do this you just need the right motivation...keep reading everything and get numbers from your fellow quitters and call them if you are feeling weak. Make a quit plan. It should look something like this:

Before I take another dip I WILL:
1) Look my children in the face and tell them that tobacco is more important to me than they are.
2) I will also look my wife in the face and tell her that while I do love her, I love tobacco more.
3) Resign myself to the fact that I want to die a slow painful death of my own creation while simultaneously creating financial hardship for my family.
4) I will also call 4 members of KTC and get permission from each of them to take a dip.

If you complete all of those steps then, by all means...have a dip!

I will see you in the HOF.

You guys are awesome. This is exactly the group of people I need to be around. I have been reading a lot on this forum and it's nice to know I am not alone in this. I posted role this morning and it is really weird, At first I thought posting role was kinda pointless and lame. I couldn't have been more wrong. It is weird but I felt a bond with the other people in my quit group, just knowing someone else was on there 8th day and going through exactly what I am helps me.

I look forward to the days to come when I can help others stay quit like you all are helping me.

Thanks

If you were better looking and hung better then you would be me! I dipped 24 years, been married 10 years, 2 beautiful daughters, and I quit for about 7 days before I found this site while looking for resources to help me quit. That was 500 days ago tomorrow. I could not imagine being successful without the help of these fine men and women here at KTC. You have just been reborne into a family with 9529 brothers and sisters that will gladly kick you in the ass and keep you focused. Welcome and I will help in any way that I can.

Caveman,

I will get better with each day that there is between you and the last dip. Educate yourself by reading everything on this site. Make your promise every day and keep it!

  • Interests: My family - 2 amazingly brilliant and beautiful children and an equally amazing and beautiful wife. Sports - Mets and Giants for teams, golf for weekends... Bagpipes. Been playing bagpipes longer than I've been dipping. And that's a long friggin' time.

Welcome Caveman -

You've spent most of your life throwing your future down the drain with this shit. You've made the right choice by coming here. This is the only source I've ever found that could have any impact on my addiction. Embrace this place and make it your second home. This is the best chance you have to save your life.

And jump into chat, if you haven't already. You mentioned that your quit has been hard on your wife and kids. Don't let that happen. Take all your frustrations out on us in chat or here on the forums. We know what you're going through. We've been where you are. If you need to be a complete ass munching jack-hole, do it in front of us, not your family. It's not their fault you tried to kill yourself. We've been there too - we can help.
The love you get here is conditional. The condition is that you are quit.

Welcome,

You have made the first step. Now step two is to figure our roll call and start learning the accountability part of this.

Make a few friends on here and just get quit.

You have another 3 weeks or so where there will be severe metal games going on by you are out of the worst part.

7 Days Behind Me
« on: October 10, 2011, 07:10:00 PM »
Hello everyone,

Today is my 7th day without dipping. I diped for a little over 22 years, the last 5 have been at least a can a day.

I didnt know support groups and forums like this one existed. I was looking up withdrawl symptoms and found everything right here.

This has been the hardest thing I have ever done. I had no idea how hard it would be and that I would get "sick" if I stopped.

I have been happily married for 11 years and have 4 beautifull kids. My quiting has been taxing on us all.

The first 3 days where the worst, I feel a little better today and the cravings dont seem to be as intense and dont seem to last as long.

Thanks for a great forum
