I just keep telling myself if I can make Day 1...

Dano

Good Choice to Quit---Best choice of your life. I started this journey 87 days ago---for 87 days I have been free. Embrace the suck and pain and remember it. I am here to tell you each day will get better--after the first 3 to 4 days.

#1 You quit One Day At A TIME, post roll, make your promise and don't use that day---then repeat---be a man on HONOR. You only have to quit one day at a time--don't worry about tomorrow!

#2 Read everything on the site more than once--new and old stuff. Educate yourself. We don't use any nicotine replacement shit around--NO NICOTINE!!!!

#3 this site is here to support you, but also get some off site support as well--wife, good friend, doctor etc---very important that you let everyone know of your choice to quit and get them on board for encouragement and support.

#4 You are an Addict and you will always be a nicotine addict-----know this.

#5 Resolve---make up your mind that no matter what, you will not put the cancerous substance named tobbacco/nicotine into your body come HELL or HIGH WATER!!! Read the stories on cancer---that should help your resolve.

I had decided long ago to quit and today (7/23/11) is Day 1 of my new life...

No more Red Seal, Fine Cut, Brown Can -- I think all the convenience store clerks will certainly wonder where I've been.

The cravings have come (and gone) today, but I've kept myself busy to keep my mind from the temptations and cravings.

I just keep telling myself if I can make Day 1...

I feel for you guys, and I know you feel for me.
Just listen and share with others when you feel cravings. Get some numbers, get on chat, post roll, and honor your word. I'm a fellow October quit brother, so welcome. I am glad to be quit with you today. Try to remember how this feels as Loot told me when I joined. Day 1-3 will keep you quit if you don't forget how it feels. You never want to do this again. Take the good here and just ignore anything that might bother you.

Welcome dano! Best decision I've ever made was to post my Day 1, I'm sure you will feel the same...after you get through the SUCK. You hit it right there, you JUST have to make it through Day 1, just until bedtime tonight. I'm proud to be quit with you, we do it here one day at a time.

Read read read. This website has tons of great articles, plus inspirational speeches, the list goes on and on. Stay close to this website for the next three days, it WILL save your life if you embrace the advice given all around here. Literally.

Welcome to the suck dano! These next couple of days are the worst, which is why you need to embrace them and remember the pain of them -- the idea being you never want to experience the suck again. The best way to get through it is to just be pissed off at tobacco. Get on here and rant and rave...let it all out. Don't take it out on your loved ones or boss or someone you will regret.

Check out the link. Should help you get started.

Make sure you go over to the October quit group and post roll. Post roll as soon as you can during the day. That is the equivalent of you giving alll of us your word that you will not use nicotine for the rest of the day. So post roll early, and honor your word...focus on one day at a time. You got this. And if you need anything dont hesitate to ask.

Congrats!!! You're in the fog right now. And I'm sorry to say that it will get worse before it gets better...but it will get better!!! For now...embrace the suck. The pain is your body recovering from the poison you used to give it.

Don't think about tomorrow, next week or next year. We'll deal with them when they get here. Focus on right now...staying quit today. What are you going to do when the craves get worse? What is your plan?

Mine was to stay glued to this site and read everything you can...post roll, HOF speeches, the Kern Family story. You can do this, brother!!!
