Hey everyone!
My name is Dev. I am a 25 y/o female and had been dipping since I was 17. While at the dentist recently they told me I needed to have a biopsy done. The biopsy came back with abnormal cell growth. The surgeon wanted to go ahead and cut everything out, but I asked to try quitting and some more natural things out. So here I am. I have been on this site before a few years ago and it seemed like a great group. I just wasnt ready for it yet.
I am currently on day three. Four hours and 18 minutes and I will hit the 72 hour mark. Yesterday I felt miserable physically, but strong mentally. Today, I feel a lot better physically, but crap mentally.
The part that is really getting to me right now is just the act of dipping. Just having something there and the spitting and all that gross stuff. I am curious about some of the fake dip stuff, but want to be careful since I am trying to allow my gums to heal. Any suggestions or ideas are greatly welcomed.
Dev, welcome to quit! Keep in touch with your dentist and oral surgeon -- just in case.
For now, drink lots of water, and exercise through craves.
For the oral fix, many alternatives will irritate your gums. As far as I can tell, any foreign substance between your cheek gum will irritate to some extent. That really limits your options. One I've heard good things about is flavored toothpicks (cinnamon is popular).
The other thing to do is join a quit group, say hi, and post roll every day. Get to know those people and get through this with a broad base of support. My guess is you are in December 2016, but you could belong in the January 2017 group. (Check the dates).
There are many strong women quitters here, so connect with them as well.
