DH, Congrats on quitting!!! You found KTC which is a great start. The key to a successful quit is to post roll everyday with a group of fellow quitters who help each other through the battle.

What's keeping you from joining the January 17 quit group? It cant be technology because if an IT klutz like me can figure it out, I know you can! There is even a youtube link that shows you step by step how to do it. (but I am too much of a klutz to know how to post it here)

Proud to quit with you DH.

I posted roll in January today, but I may have copied the wrong section...heck I dunno. Seems like there were more names further up I didn't copy. I'll figure it out...hope I didn't jack up today's posting
LOL!!! It'd be the 1st time roll ever got jacked up!!! No one ever does that! (Sarcasm!)

Don't worry about jacking up roll. You'll see the humor in this in a couple of months. Roll is constantly FUBARed around here. Just when you think you've seen it all, someone who's been here 6 months will come in and jack it up in ways you never thought possible! (been there, done that)

The only way you can screw up roll is not to be on it. And Congrats! I see you're on it.

You're right about remembering the stuff as being better than it was. I Quit because I HATE being a slave to it. For every one dip that I enjoyed, there were hundreds of others that I had only because my addiction demanded it. And yet there are days that my addict brain tries to convince me that they were all enjoyable and dipping was the best thing I had going for me in my life. That's not the way I felt before I Quit!!!

I've been dipping for 36 years, I started when I was 14. I've Quit for months on my own only to fall back into this stuff. Everytime I tried to quit before I found KTC I wasn't very optimistic that I could make it last. But after being here for several months I'm convinced that this is my last Quit.

Do more than just post roll. Get to know these people. That's where it's at! Once these people become more than just funny names and avatars you'll begin to understand why this place really works.

Proud to be Quit with you today DH. You can do this!
Good help, from badasses, coming in-- see, all you have to do is put yourself out there and other quitters circle around to help you through it. It's a hell of a fight ahead, but the more you go all in here, give it all you can, the stronger the quit you build. And a strong quit is what it takes to overcome all the tricks that the addiction throws your way. But you know what? it feels SO good to be free, to be quit. It gets better... and by better, I mean something beyond what you ever imagined if you've been using for a long time. Your life has been ruled by that addiction, in ways you didn't even realize.

Congrats on taking the first steps to change all that, to take your own life back! It's heroic, but you can and are doing it! And you will, as long as you give all you can here, and accept the help and methods others offer here! Step by step, you can win too!
This info helped me early on, and still does today: https://whyquit.com/whyquit/linksaaddiction.html

Quitters I’ve met so far: Ihatecope, >Pinched<, T-Cell, grizzlyhasclaws, Canvasback, BaseballPlayer, Cbird65, ERDVM, BradleyGuy, Ted, Zeno, AppleJack, Bronc, Knockout, MookieBlaylock, Rdad, 2mch2lv4, MN_Ben, Natro, Lippizaner, Amquash, ChristopherJ, GDubya, SRohde  -- always eager to meet more!

DH,
You started off talking about romanticizing chew and that it was a myth you cannot hunt, or fish without a chew. This is true, chew didn't make anything better and you will find out hunting is still fun without cope.
Learn to hate it, get angry, it has wasted your time, money, health and mental aptitude.

I think the consensus on KTC is to not keep trophy cans lying around, get rid of it!

Welcome. Don't worry about the CRTL + A , CTRL + X stuff too much yet. The only way to screw up posting roll is by not trying to post roll. You get a free pass the first few days. The important part is to keep trying, then you'll figure it out soon enough.

When you post roll, you are making your solemn promise to your group, and the entire community that you will not use nicotine. Make your promise, keep your word. It's that simple. Nobody said it was easy, but it is simple. Refuse to cave. The freedom is worth the price.

I'm proud to quit with you.

How it started for me
« on: October 06, 2016, 05:52:00 PM »
Day 4 on 35 plus years dipping Cope and Red Seal. I find myself doing ok then BOOM...dang a craving hits and I don't see it coming. I also find myself sort of wondering, i wonder what this would be like without some snuff...like sitting in a deer blind (which is just around the corner) or fishing or whatever...i saw a quote someone had on here, I'd credit them if I could find it again, about how that's called "romancing" and in reality, maybe it wasnt all that great. So yeah, in those 35 plus years I never really tried to quit. Then we had a birthday party last weekend, and for some reason, it just seemed like time. And I was out of snuff anyway. BUT...cleaning up, wouldnt you know, a half a can of Cope left behind. So i sort of just thought, ok...is this a sign? Either 1) ehhhh you can't stop, quit thinking about and here's some free snuff just to make sure OR was it 2) heres the last snuff, then no more. So, I kept that snuff and went thru it last weekend and when it was done I put that empty can in my dresser. That last dip was Oct 3rd. I want to keep that empty can as a trophy.

That was all real rambly, which is ok I guess...just "thoughts" . I am having some trouble working this website, like all the CTL-A CTL-X stuff, for a quit group. I'd like to be a part of that, but not sure I will figure that out. (I'm in IT too!).

I've read about the successes in here and am thankful that, while closing in on the end of Day 4, i can read up on how people are managing. It is very helpful.
