As CaliforniaSlim said, you have to quit for you. You will always find a way to shelter a few bucks from the wife to buy a can. Don't fool yourself.

As for alternatives, anything that doesn't contain tobacco or nicotine is fine. I couldn't find "Fake" near me either. I used seeds, gum, hard candy, toothpicks, coffee stirs, and even green teabags (moistened) to fill the void in my face. Try them all and find one that works for you. When that one wears off try them all again to see if something is more appealing then. Whatever you do, don't cave. You can NEVER justify using that shit again.

If you haven't see it yet, Chewie has put together an extensive list, and awesome consumer reviews, of Smokeless Alternatives. -- Click there.

I had my wife take my cards and all that when I first quit. Smart move bro. Knowing yourself enough to fortify your weakness is a good move.

Right now... Spend every waking moment reading everything you can on this site. Get yourself up to the Welcome Center and learn what we do and how we do it here. You're in for a rough time for the first few weeks. Be a man... Be strong... Be involved. This site ~ these people ~ will save your life. Those are the stakes here. Your life.

You need to own this. PM me and you'll have a quit buddy who will hound your ass to keep you quit. Rock on...

Nothing wrong with using non-nicotine products. Some use them some don't. For me I tried a lot of different ones and liked smokey Mountian and used it steady for 80-90 days and then after about 120 days I lost interest in it. I still have a can but haven't touched it for over a year. Including your wife in the process really helps. Keep the communication open just don't dump the anger on her bring it here (we can take it). A lot of us like a good fight!

Thanks all. Wal-Mart here does not carry Smokey Mountain, and I'm such a hard core insomniac I don't want anything to do with coffee anytime past about 10am, so I'm hesitant on trying that. I'll figure out something.

Thanks all.
Has anyone tried to make their own dip alts? I've seen a lot of stuff about the cans you can buy, but I'm hesitant on laying down the money to order something I have never tried before. Plus I kind of need it NOW. I noticed most of them are made form tea, so maybe if you just got your own tea and put a few drops of mint or wintergreen extract in it?
During those first days, I felt like I needed something in my lip. I would rip a piece off of a coffee filter and mix brown sugar and coffee and wrap it up and stick it in my lip. It sounds disgusting to me now, but it kind of worked for me until I went sunflower seed crazy. Eventually, my mouth stopped wanting even those.

You are doing it brother. Stick with it.

Nope never tried an alternative but a lot of people do. Smokey Mountain is at walmart. One thing dont do as I did and go to a gas station and ask if they have any fake black puss. Dude looked at me stupid and I fuckin caved. Shove glass into your mouth anything but the bad shit. Get on "live chat" If you really are quit you will do anything I mean anything to stay that way.

Sack up... Go Cold Turkey. You don't "need" anything. I dropped everything... EVERYTHING... 161 days ago. No fake stuff, nothing. You can do it too...

Hey all. My name is Jason. Took my last dip ever last night, going cold turkey. I have used 2-3 cans a day (mostly Grizzly straight) for the past 12 years. I have tried to quit before, but this WILL be my final, and successful attempt. Formed a great quit plan. My wife took all my money and cards away, leaving me no possible way to go off on my own and sneak that "just one last" can. And great motivation. We finally got accepted and put a deposit on an actual home, and funds will be tight. We NEED this extra money.

Look forward to meeting you all and sharing support.
Great decision to quit. A couple things you need to get straight.
First, you have never quit before. You just stopped for a while. If you mean it, and stick around here, drink the kool-aid and follow the plan, you will be quit. You will have all the tools to be and stay truly quit.

Second, Don't worry about never taking another dip ever. Damn, that sounds hard. Just don't dip today. 'Round here, we quit one day at a time. I quit today, posted roll promising my quit group, my other KTC brothers and myself, that I would not use nicotine today. Tomorrow I will do the same, but that is later. I just keep my word today. WHile we are on the topic, go to the Welcome Center (pink button on top left) and learn how to, and why we post roll. (Heck, read everything on this site. I spent the first month reading every scrap I could on here, then started rereading because it all had new meaning after a month.)

Third, you need to quit for you. Money can be a factor, your wife can be a factor, but you need to really know that you are done with dip and that you are sick of being led around on a leash by the nic bitch. We are addicts, hiding the money and cards won't stop us. We will find a way to chew... UNLESS we take a stand and take back our lives.

You can do this. Heck, all of us did, and we weren't any stronger than the next guy. PM me if you want a phone number for accountability. IT helps. You will need some at some point in this journey.

I am quit with you today.
