Good luck Rick. I'm a newbie too. I'm on day 4 fighting off the little green men that are whispering in my ear. One minute I'm like.."this isn't bad"...the next I want to put my computer through the wall.

Deep breath....I have a daughter too. Hang in there buddy. I'm right with you. I will pray for your test too. I know it will all be good.

Headaches are normal and nothing to worry about. It's because your brain is getting more oxygen than it's used to. I'll post some links here you should check out

"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

@30yr : sorry I didn't think about clarifying that. I have never even tried nicotene gum. I was just talking about spearmint chewing gum like stride. I haven't had any nicotene since last Wednesday.
Since wednesday, huh? That is badass! Congrats on a fantastic decision.

I agree with what RT said- I am confident that the test will be favorable. It's gonna feel good to tell the doc that you quit.

Holler if you need anything, brother.

Welcome to the site Rick.

Don't worry about what it took you to find your way here, we were all stupid for many reasons.

I have confidence the doctor will come back with favorable results. When that happens, you have my permission to post another +1 with us.

Read, post, get involved.

Welcome Rick,

First off, I will say a prayer for a favorable test result, so sorry you are going through that.

We are a cold turkey quit site, so if the gum is nicotine gum, it has to go before posting roll call. It takes 3 days for nicotine to get out of your system, and it is better just to go through "the suck" and get it over with. Know that you never have to go through it again.

I will be sending you a pm, check your inbox (1)

Glad you are here.

You are headed in the right direction. Just listen to what the vets have to say and practice it. Everyone is here for your benefit and my benefit also. I like how they hold you accountable for your decisions. Just read and learn. I have stayed on this site almost all day everyday since I found it sunday.

This is my first post on one of these things. I just discovered this site today and I am thankful I did. I am 24 years old and was told last week that I had a tumor on my cheek on the side I dipped. I decided to quit when I left the doc that day and haven't had one since. I knew it would be tough but I never imagined it would be this hard. I have been using gum and the herbal snuff to ween off. I am fighting the cravings better but now I am getting the worst headaches of my life. I got the tumor removed yesterday and am waiting to hear from the biopsy. I have a daughter that is turning one in two weeks. Please say a prayer for me that the biopsy is clear. It's sad it took all this to get me to drop the habit.
