I'm almost 3 months quit and I can only think of 1 day so far that I haven't wanted a dip at some point--be it because I'm stressed, one to celebrate, help me with the blues, keep me awake, etc. I don't give in though because I want to quit. I like the money I've saved. I like the time I can invest in profitable activities. I like not sneaking around to dip. I like no longer having to answer to my addiction every hour or two.

The benefits outweigh the costs. I'll be a nicotine addict the rest of my life and to that end I imagine I'll wrestle with the desire to dip forever...and focus on wrestling each day as it comes
Your desire to dip will diminish. When that happens varies by person. I was 200 days or so and still thought about it. Sometime around 250 the desire went away. Not saying I am cured, just have my mind in a different place.

Hard to believe I ever dipped in the first place. Keep fighting, it does get better.

Keeping it short and sweet.  First three days is the worst three days.  The rest of this shit is all in your head.  You have to be mentally tough.  You have to determine you won't be an addict anymore.

Basically you just have to be a man.
If it is all in your head after 3 days then why do most experience the physical fog, insomnia, sweats, and many other physical symptoms long after 3 days. I do not think there is a quitter here that can say that all of his physical symptoms ended after 3 days. For me it was more like 30. I fed my body nicotine constantly for 23 years. To think it will all be over in just 3 days is crazy.
Hang in there bro...it does get better.
It does get better, I'm at 74 days today, and work has kept me so busy I have almost forgotten to post roll every day for the past week. Meaning that Nicotine is so far away from my thoughts throughout the day that I have gotten to the point that I need to remind myself to post, or sometimes Andrew comes in the office and slaps me around a bit.

Sack up and drive on, do whatever it takes to stay quit. One thing that has helped me along the way, is I will tell just about anyone that i've quit, and what day I'm on. This helps because it reminds me thoughout the day that I'm quit, and the misery it would be to start back over at day one.

Also, you wouldn't believe how many people will be proud of you for quitting. My Soldiers will come up and ask me if I'm still quit or will ask me what day I'm on. Soldiers in our unit have quit just because Andrew and I have. I cave, I will have let them all down.

Who will you let down if you cave?

Personally, I think you're doing the right thing by bringing it up. If you didn't have the will power you would have already said, "screw it" and you would have been too terrified to log back on to the forum.

just by posting you are showing you're already strong enough and smart enough to do this. I think you need to realize that fact. Once you understand that, it gets easier. there are so many better things to do with your time. the urge sucks, but once you get your mind onto something else, you'll find you enjoy that something else much more.

I'm not an expert by any stretch, i've been quit for 15 days, but I plan on being a veteran at this sport and I know you can do it too.

On a side note, I get more enjoyment from bragging to my family, friends and co-workers that it's been 15 days since I had my last chew. They're holding me accountable just as the brother  sister quitters on this forum, which drives me more.

sorry for the lengthy post, just want you to know you can do it, we're all here for you.

im on my 8th day and i find myself struggling not to just say screw it, and throw in a skoal mint.  Im afraid i actually like dip too much to keep away from it.  any tips or advice would be appreciated, thanks.
I understand. You feel as though you have betrayed your best friend. Nicotine was never your friend. It was your slave master. Yep, that's right, you were a slave. read the links I sent you. Read everything you can on this site.

You have made the best decision of your life by breaking free. What you are feeling is quite normal. It will pass. You have no idea how great things will get if you remain quit. You just won't believe me right now.

You can do this.

It will get better.

I was exactly where you are 1162 days ago.

WTF...

You like dip too much to stay away from it?

NO you don't. You are consciously trying to convince yourself of reasons that dip would be ok.

Dip is NOT ok. It will kill you. It you were on day 2 I would have more sympathy. Day 8 means that the nic is out of your system and it is time for you to man up and quit the shit like all of us have.

Get in July and post roll.

It will be the best thing you have ever done for your life. It really is that good.
