Good to see you here jeep! (I know jeep as a friend and was pushin him to join up on the site here). Don't worry, just like if I were to make the mistake of lapsing, I'll give you an ass kicking if you lapse. So you have that as further encouragement!

I got two cans of the "fake stuff"-smokey mountain chew. Tried natural and it tasted like ass but the wintergreen suprised me. Still, not what I want to do, but I'm hanging onto a couple of cans for emergencies and work, anything to keep the shit out of my mouth.

Got big respect for you young guys on here. Not many people your age would stand up and admit they got a problem. I wouldnt listen to anyone when I was that age. Stick with the quit and dont give up and you'll avoid a lot of BS you dont need in your life.
Gosh, Mister, my teeth feel cleaner. But what about the hole in the wall?

Welcome Jeep, you made the right choice. I see you still haven't posted roll for the day so jump into the April group and post with us. Promise me you will not dip today and I'll promise you.

The suck, the fog, the sores, the sore throat, the craves, and the extra attitude are all the nic bitch telling you she loves you... Yeah right, that bitch will still try to kill you at first. But it does get better.

Keep your eyes straight ahead.

For the first 4-5 days or so you're going to want to avoid these triggers.  It's not running away, it's just letting your body adjust to the physical changes in it before you put yourself in a tight spot.  Some of those triggers you just can't avoid....and that when you hit the sunflower seeds, the chewing gum (non-nicotine), mints, herbal chew (non-nicontine) or something else to hold you over.

It's hard when you first start, and triggers continue to make cravings worse, but if you stand up to them strong now you will learn to stand up to them in the long run.
So far so good. Those triggers are unavoidable as they happen during my shifts at work. I have been able to (moderately sanely) stay away from the chew cravings while doing them. I did however buy a can of the herbal non-nicotine chew to offset the really bad cravings. This is really shitty, trying to put off the nicotine craving. This herbal chew has been really helpful in avoiding the nicotine, but I'm still afraid I'll lapse.
 Why haven't you posted roll, yet? If you don't post roll, yes you will use again.
Hey Jeep, these guys are right ...... jump in your quit group and get involved. Going back to being a slave to the nicotine is a choice. YOU make the choice daily not to use. Early in my quit I couldn't even quit day by day. I had to quit literally minute by minute some days. Don't worry about quitting for forever, just quit moment by moment, then day by day. That is all we can do, we are addicts. Use the support and accountability on this site and you CAN do this. It's been said many times: this shit is simple, just not easy. Own your quit, protect it, be proud of it. Treat this as life and death because that is exactly what it is. Proud to be quit with ya!

You won't relapse if you choose not to relapse. The only person who can make you cave is yourself! Make up your mind not to cave and then stick with it! Post role call today and join up with the April quitters!

Cope Wintergreen isn't the cheap shit! Glad to hear you've just started your quit. Post roll for the day and commit to staying nicotine free for one more day. Then go back and do that the next day and the next..... The first week or so sucks a lot. The first 10 days or so sucks altogether. After about 13 days for me it started to suck less. It's still a constant struggle, but it's leveled out now, and I'm clear of the fog that you feel right now. It's worth it!

I have a similar story to yours, except I waited longer than you to kick the nic habit. Trust me, you want to stay off the nicotine. It ruins your life in the long run. Stick with the quit, own it, take one day at a time, and keep that shit out of your mouth.

We are all here working through our own personal quits together, from all over the world and from all walks of life. If you stick with your quit you will find a great supportive group here. You can do it, it is going to suck badly, but you can do it.

If you need anything shoot me a PM, I am online at weird times since I am a couple of time zones away, when most other people are sleeping.
It's been real bad lately, I fell into a routine before that while I was doing certain things I would dip, now when I do those things it drives me batshit crazy not to have a big dip tucked into my lip. It's damn hard. Made it two days with those temptations so far though

Let's Kill This Sumbitch
« on: January 19, 2011, 03:00:00 AM »
Well, I figure I should tell you some about myself before I get into the nitty gritty. I've been using nicotine since I turned 18. At 21, this really doesn't seem like a long time but it's been enough to get me sufficiently addicted. I started smoking when I turned 18. I quit smoking after a year and a half, only to replace it with the ol' smokeless tobacco. My poison of choice: Cope Wintergreen. That cheap shit has had me hooked worse than any cigarette, and I decided it's time to quit before I seriously fuck my life up.

I've been off the dip for about 56 hours now, give or take. And it has been god damn hard. I've been getting some really intense cravings, especially the last couple hours or so. Either way, I want to kick this shit for good; I don't want to destroy my body for the sake of a buzz that is less and less satisfying each time. Any more I would use the dip just to normalize, and I don't want to depend on a substance just to feel like a functioning human being.
