Day 2 went better than expected. I did think about it a lot, but it was fairly easy to manage to nic fits. My body felt healthier... food tasted different too.

Below is kind of like a blog, which is something I plan to do every day for the first couple of weeks or so.

Day 3 of Quitting Dip:

I still can't believe that there are idiots with youtube accounts devoted nothing but dip reviews and talking about dipping, wait, yes I can they think dip is safe yet cannot confirm what is in dip. If these idiots only knew. It's like watching Intervention... the parts where the camera follows around the addict.

I watched one about Mud Jugs... sadly some come in camo, some in random rainbow glass and even a southern pride theme. There is pride here, yeah, being proud to fuck your shit up! When I say shit, I mean "mouth, throat, teeth, gums and life".

I'm not gonna sugar coat it, but I was a scavenger ninja dipper. I was ashamed and didn't want people to know. I'd spit in moderately full garbage cans to hide it, sometimes I'd find a random cup in the trash and play "aim my loogie". Other times I'd hit up the drinking fountain and act like I was taking a drink. I used to use my McD's coffee cup and act like I was taking a drink, except it was either empty or full of dip juice. Sometimes I'd even spit on carpet.... when all else fails you swallow it and find the nearest thing to drink to relieve the burn associated with it.

Thanks for the support... this too shall pass! Keep driving on!
First off, FUCK Mudjug and his merry band of idiots. I had it out with them earlier in my quit, before realizing you can't fix stupid. I even went back and forth with the author of some book he was touting about dipping being "safe". Even got the author to admit that what, WE here are KTC are doing is the right thing, and he wished me the best of luck. Don't even give that Mud-PUD idiot anymore time by watching his idiotic videos. It's a waste of time.

Second, all those ninja things you did...I did them all, and I bet a ton of other guys on this site had as well. I will never forget going into a video store with my kids to get them some kids movies and video games with a lip full. Of course they are kids so they were taking FOREVER. As I did my best to wait patiently, the amount of spit build up in my mouth was reaching overflow levels. No way I could swallow it, as I would barf on the spot. So, what do I do? I go over to the drinking fountain and pretend to get a drink and instead unload a mouth full of SHIT. Some lady saw me do it too. The look on her face was one of terror and all this brown slime snaked down the drain, leaving behind a zillion little specs that I had the "hand splash" so the could find their way down the drain.

What a fucking IDIOT I was. How fucking SICK is that??? Why the fuck could I not take my kids into a video store without a dip in??? I'm steaming right now just thinking about that again.

Thanks a lot for bringing up that memory, Rob, you PRICK!!!! Your ass better QUIT AND STAY THE FUCK quit for making me relive that in my brain!!!!

Well the full Day 1 went well. Chewed a ton of a gum and began to not even think about it toward the end of my shift at work. Even sitting here I am fine, but I know that there will times where I used to dip that will be difficult.

Thanks for the welcomes... is it me or did anyone else in the first day notice food items taste different? I had the best burrito ever... it was damn good!

oh, is there a usual time you all are in the chat room?
Welcome to KTC rob, I assume 1985 is the year you were born, that kind of makes me sad.... and old......

I guess that means I dipped longer than you have been alive, if we can do this so can you.

I normally find people in the chat room after 9 PM EST, I hear there are people on during the day as well, but I think it tends to be hit or miss.

Keep asking the questions, plenty of people around to help. I guarantee 2 things, it will get easier, and if you have an issue others here have also had it.
Yes, 1985 is my year of birth. lol I will keep an eye on the chatroom.

Let me go ahead and introduce myself. I am Rob from Northern Illinois. I am not married and don't have any kids. I work in the public safety field (PSO), specifically at a healthcare facility. You'd think seeing cancer patients, some from dipping, on a regular basis would scare me enough to have quit a long time ago, but it hasn't and that is denial at it's purest.

I have been wanting to quit for a while now. I stumbled upon this site tonight while looking for an alternative to dip. After reading the success stories of those who have dipped almost all of their entire adult lives, I figured hey a 28 year old guy who has been dipping for 8 years can do it!

I have been dipping for about 8 years (as previously mentioned) at a half to a full can per day rate for about the last 5 years. My poison of choice is Skoal Long Cut Wintergreen or Skoal Long Cut Extra Wintergreen. I also smoke the occasional Marlboro Menthol Light.

So my journey began right after seeing the site and facebook page. Here I am sitting at work last night. I look at the garbage can, have a heart-to-heart with myself and tossed my tin in. So Saturday February 23rd 2013 will be my first day (almost two weeks after my 28th bday).

I am fully ready to quit the selfish, disgusting, expensive and dangerous habit! I am glad I found a support group that is serious and proven! I look forward to meeting those who will be there to help and hope to stop in the chatroom as well. I picked the habit up as a volunteer firefighter and here I am 8 years later.

If any of you have more questions feel free ask!

Thanks to all who have helped guys like me in the beginning, because I am not going to hide it, I am scared to meet the challenges of this journey!
Welcome. Of course you're scared, we all were in the beginning, and you very well should be, quittin ain't easy. It takes a real fucking man to realize they are a slave, though. And it takes huge balls to step up to the plate and put in the work to get your freedom back.

Good news for you is you don't have to do it alone. You have a group of bad ass quitters that have been slaying the nic bitch on a daily basis for multiple years. Even though most of us are nuttier than a shithouse at a peanut convention, we get off on helping eachother quit. We will help you every step of the way.

We dont pull any punches here either. We tell it like it is. We aren't assholes but we aren't gonna cup your sack and sing you a lullabye either. You need a kick in the ass...we deliver. You need to rant and rave...we listen. You need to cry...we offer a shoulder. You show progress...we encourage. You want a blumpkin...find another site.

For starters I encourage you to read, read, and read some more. Read everything you can on the site, even go off the site to read how nicotine works and how evil it really is. Educate yourself on the enemy. Not only will it help you battle the beast it will help you pass the time and keep your brain occupied...especially in the beginning.

Star by reading THE WELCOME CENTER. Its the tab at the top left of the page right under the picture of the guy in the red shirt, prasing the lord next to a tower of beer cans. It will explain the importance of role and how to post it. Posting role is the backbone of this site. Its your daily promise to not only yourself but every nut job on this site that you will not use nicotine in any form for that day. Once you go a day without, yoi rinse and repeat and keep adding +1's to your days quit. Don't think about the future, focus on quitting just for one day. Any fool can quit for a day...I'm living proof of that.

Well my man, time to take your freedom back...hell its time to take your LIFE back. We are here for you and would love nothing more than to see you do it and will do whatever it takes to help you. Use us. We are on call 24/7/365.
Thanks, I will definitely look through all the THE WELCOME CENTER postings in better detail.

I do have a question though, how do the Quit Groups work? How do I join? I am a little confused about it.
Quit group is where you will be in 100 days when you reach the hall of fame...and you WILL make it. Its also where you post role and is a great place to bond with other guys in your group as you journey together to the HOF and beyond.

You would be one of the first members of the June 2013 pre hof quit group...because in 100 days, it will be June. You will go here every fucking day, first thing in the morning and post your promise not to use nicotine that day.

Again, read the welcome center...it will explain it better than my dumb ass can
Welcome aboard Rob! I'm one of those you mentioned that has been dippin' my entire adult life (and then some) 40 year addict coming up on 11 months dip free! Drink deep of the koolaid. Spend all your extra time for a few days reading these many threads.
Scared? Good. LOOT was scared shitless too. Don't believe it? LOOT's first post is around here somewhere...go find it.

That was 7+ years ago. A lot has changed since then. It will change for you too...but there will be hell to pay before it does.

You are in good company. Read all you can and listen to the guys that have been there. They usually know a little about addiction and how to master it.

Never again...for any reason.
