Whacko,
First of all, thank you for your service to this country. Secondly, Denny's right, live on this site as much as you can. Great stuff in abundant quantities. I'm on my true third day - I did a couple of days with the patch. I quickly and painfully became aware that that is a big no-no in this community. I ate a few slices of humble pie and now proudly have joined the quit nicotine free.

Post Roll Call every day. This is a journey and not a destination.

Welcome, you are in great companyÂ…IÂ’ll let other folks post links to the basics here, but let me start by saying that you are not alone. IÂ’ve been around this site for 68 days now and IÂ’d venture a guess to say that most folks here hid their addiction from wife/kids/coworkers/friends. There are different levels of secrecy, but a lot of folks here know what itÂ’s like to live the lie you have been living. I lied the entire length of my relationship with my wife, 6 years. 48 days ago that changed.

OK, you’re going to see your buddies in 10 days? This site has to be your new full time job in the next 10 days, and part time beyond. Before you go back to work, you have to “drink the cool-aid”, as they say. Read this entire website. No kidding. HOF speeches, words of wisdom, intro threads, everything. There is so much good stuff here that will help you see your “habbit” for what it really is: a nasty addiction where the nic bitch cracks her whip on your back and makes you obey her every hour or two. She makes you hide in the corner to get your feeding, like you’re a little baby suckling on a bottle. It’s pathetic. Correction: it was pathetic. You’ve taken control, taken her whip from her. You hold the cards. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy but you ARE doing it. It looks like you’ve been nicotine free for three days. We are nicotine free, no patches, gum, losenges, nothing with nicotine in it.

Thank you and everyone on this site for their service to this country. I am especially proud to be quit with our service members today.

Denny

OK so here is the deal......started dipping on a deployment in 2009 - 2010. Biggest mistake of my life! Kept saying I'll quit when I get home from deployment but did not realize how easy a hibbit it is to hide! Been home a year and been dipping the whole time! dip in the car on the way to work and while at work and keep the secret from my wife and son! Here is my current problem.....my wife is away on a business trip and I am home with my son on leave for 10 more days. I actually quit cold turkey 5 days ago........I got through the initial mood swings with some nicorette gum because I could not dip in front of my son and have not used the gum in 3 days now. I am actually proud of myself but am worried that when my wife comes home and I start back to work I'll pick it up again.......the ride to work is long and many of the people I work with dip.....it is definately an Army habbit! Any advice on how to get through it when I go back to work? I'm pretty sure I can make it through till then but I have 10 days before I see my buddies dipping again!
