I gave out my number to somebody and regretted it, so this is more safe.

It's all good, nobody has to join.
I've given out my number 100's of times, and have never had an issue... And I know many more have done more.

I get that you may be a little uncomfortable sharing information with an internet "stranger" - But over the last 835 days, many of these people have become my friends. We get together for beer. We have spent time with each others families. I hope in time, you will see the benefit of this. but in the mean time, jump on the forums. Read, get involved. I assure you, you wont regret it!

I made a discord server where people can socialize and talk to each other

https://discord.gg/UqcXKwX1

You mean like these forums? Where people have been socializing and talking to each other for over a decade?

Gotcha.

Caleb,

You should worry more about posting roll every damn day than socializing.  You have a weak track record to date of posting your promise to remain nicotine for 24 hours.  We already have plenty of other ways to socialize.  I have phone numbers for over 150 other quitters.  I text most of them on daily basis.

Really though, all of the talking should be done on this forum so that everyone has a chance to comment on or learn from what is being said.
If you want my digits, just ask and they will be yours, but I expect yours in return.

It's my second day here on the forum and I already have a little more faith in myself than I had yesterday. Its been a rough month in Afghanistan since I took that last dip. The meds the doc gave me didn't do jack and I have been living with a constant pressure in my chest since day one (you know that feeling you get when you're holding your breath and your body first starts demanding air? That pressure). Chewing sugar-free gum is about the only think that keeps my mind off it, but the temptation to ask one of my joes for a pinch had been growing rapidly over the past week. I didn't want to fail myself again so I hit the internet (when I was supposed to be working...) and found this place. Reading through the various threads and seeing the style of support offered here makes this battle seem a little less daunting. Been playing the military game the past 14 years and I think I'll respond pretty well to the tough love I see going around. I've made up my mind to become a common presence on the forum, not only in my quit group but overall because that sense of responsibility will help me keep myself accountable.

At any rate, I wanted to thank each and every member of this site for being here. Whether or not we ever interact directly, your presence is proof that this daily battle is winnable. Together, we can win the war. I'm proud to be here with you, so please help me and I will do my damndest to help you.

ive started dipping when i was 13 im 22 now ive started chewing cause i thought it was cool my friends were doing so i did ive tryed quitting its hard i just need some help are some i really want to quit i spend to much money on chew which i called be buying hunting stuff are a new fishing pole i know i would be saving money but the withdraws get to me and i go out and buy a can i just wanna quit that all i wanna do ive gone 3 days without it but the 3rd day hit me. I just need support are somehing ive tryed fake dip and it dont help im ready to quit now

Country,

I'm not going to lie to you, it is going to be hard and it is going to suck, until it doesn't anymore.  I chewed for over 30 years and was up to 3 cans a day when I quit 448 days ago.  Joining my quit group and making my promise not to use any nicotine products for 24 hours is what saved me.  We quit one day at a time here.  We post our promise every morning, keep our word for the whole day and come back the next day and repeat the process.

We exchange phone numbers with others members so we can all help keep each other accountable.  Having those phone numbers also gives you instant access to support if need it.  We build bonds of brotherhood with each other that stays with us for life.

Click Here to be taken to your July 2019 Quit Group.  Post your promise not to use nicotine for the next 24 hours and how many days quit you are today.  Keep your promise.  Start exchanging digits with other quitters through private message.  COme back tomorrow and repeat the process.

It is a simple process that is hard to do but we do it every day, one day at a time.

Come and take back your life.  Stop being a slave to dead, poisonous plant.  I wish I would have quit at 22 instead of 50, I would have all of that life I could have lived as a free person instead of tied to can that ran my life.

Make the choice, jump in and live brother.

Chris

first post. found this site through kickthecan. Broke my tooth a few days ago. i told my wife i wouldn't spend money on a dentist until i quit. found out the damage ($$) and it's fucking batshit crazy to keep paying to destroy my teeth(and gums, stomach, ect).

I'm literally the asshole who had to make it about the investment to the dentist to quit. not the fact that i had no problem spending $7 three times a week to help kill myself.

on day 2. this is my 2nd attempt to 'kick the can' but first with a forum like this. this fucking sucks. i genuinely didn't dis-like dipping until now. now it sucks more shit than the machines that suck shit out of port-a-potties.

cheers to all that paved the way.

Hey ballng,

Welcome to the best decision you'll ever make for yourself.

Batdad and Zeus have hit the highlights for you.  I saw you nailed your roll post (totally awesome).  Now just dig in, read whatever you can about your addiction, talk to other members and get to know the guys in your quit group (exchange phone numbers with most or all of them and some vets too).  Exchanging numbers is the best way to build the bonds of brotherhood as well as help keep everyone accountable (much easier to shoot someone a text to get them on roll).  Having those numbers also gives you instant access to support if that monster crave happens to pop up outta nowhere.

Shoot me a pm if you want my digits.

Proud to quit with you today.

Welcome, ballng.

Every day, soon after getting out of bed, we post a promise to ourselves and our quit brothers not to use nicotine in any form for the day. Then we do whatever it takes to keep that promise. We do this one day at a time. We get up the next morning and repeat. Simple, but not easy. We know it sucks. We also know it is temporary and the suckiness we must go thru is absolutely worth it. 762 days of freedom and 0 regrets for me.

10 year dipper here and just quit tonight. I listened to a bunch of inspirational speeches from Jimmy V, Stuart Scott, Herb Brooks, etc and realized from every single one of them, chew was not needed for success. Chew is weighing down my financial goals and personal dreams and productivity. It’s a true skeleton in my closet. I really hope I can lean on this forum, have some grit, and get over the hump and quit for real. It’s amazing the death grip this substance puts on you!

Welcome Nate - glad you found us and congrats on a great decision. Head on over to July 2019 to introduce yourself to your 'home group' https://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?topic=14117.0

Proud to be quit with you today!
