well congratulations one the one year and one day of doing it by yourself! You should be bragging, but just because you have the Iron Mike Attitude, doesn't mean we all do. I agree your mind does have to be right to quit, but with the support of others it's a little easier to acheive the same goal.......so don't come in my house and walk your shitty boots on my carpet.....got it?

You know what man . . . fuck you!

I signed up on this site about a year ago because I thought it would help me quit.  Didn't keep coming back because I realized I don't need a sponsor or to post here every fucking day to quit dipping.

I quit dipping because I wanted to.  So when I decided I wanted to, I promised myself, my wife, and my family I was quitting.  I didn't have to come in here and post every GD day to a bunch of strangers.

So 1 year and 1 day later, as I'm talking at work about it being a year now, I thought about this site.  So I log in and post in my roll call and say it's been a year.

After that I looked up my one and only thread and decided to post in it because "loot" assumed I hadn't quit because, god forbid, I hadn't logged in forever.

Then I ended up reading various threads and whatnot and I realized another reason I quit coming to this site.

Half the people on here are assholes.

But have a good day Skoal Monster and MSHowell and anybody else that thinks they're better than me because they post here every day.  Or anybody that believes if you don't post every day it's not really quiting.
I never said I was better than you, and neither did the Loot. (Actually I am though, and judging by your avatar Im way better looking too, and the Loot is dead sexy so I'm pretty sure were both better than you)

Im truly happy that you are quit, I wouldn't wish a nicotine addiction on my worst enemy.

I don't get your motivation for stopping in. Why? You want a cookie?

Again, you wouldn't walk into an AA meeting and say I quit and I didn't need your 12 steps or a sponsor to do it. Glad you didn't need this to quit, but I did and do, and so do others. I found your post to be inflammatory and in poor taste. You walk into a house full of recovering addicts and proclaim that you are a mighty quitter and you didn't need help. What's your point?

Other things you may consider doing today,

Drive 200 miles per hour then hold a press conference that you never were a NASCAR driver and you did not need any professional lessons on tightly gripping the stick. But you made it around the track and now your most likely the next Ricky Bobby.

Put a bandaid on your post coital bleeding asshole and then call the cheif of medicine at the Mayo clinic and tell him you never went to med school and that you have your own theory on how to cure herpes that involves a 9 Iron, a shaved weasel, a boiled cabbage and a tube of KY jelly.

Build yourself a house made out of straw and bullshit, then call the building department and tell em that your not infact a contractor, but your house is super awesome and a general knowledge of engineering is uneccesary for actual building.

I don't know, maybe sleeping at a holiday inn express makes you an expert, maybe not. But whats your point. Seems to me your either a troll, or your looking for validation for some reason. So ok your validated nice quit. Glad that worked for you, would I recommend it to anybody else? no I'd recommend they use the support of the group to help break the addiction. The chance of successfully quitting is much much higher than going it alone.
Great job quitting on your own this past year. I mean that. Nobody here thinks they're better because they post everyday. Nobody thinks you're less quit because you don't. Do watcha gotta do to stay quit. But I'll take quitting with a bunch of "strangers" that'll be there if I need them. You obviously haven't spent enough time around this place to even figure out its basic premise. Your attitude however does help me understand why you disappeared from our group.

I post because it helps me.

I post because it might help someone else.

I post because my presence might make someone stay quit one more day.

I post because not everyone can quit on their own.

I post because this place would be pretty useless with the "I got mine" approach.

I post because each person I help makes my own resolve that much stronger.

Thank you for helping me remember why I'm here.

Yesterday was my 365th day.  Made it in to post roll call a little while ago.  First roll call post in about 51 weeks.

But that doesn't mean I dipped anytime in there.  It's just I knew I could quit without posting.

Do I miss it though?  Not really.  I carry a can of Hooch with me most everywhere I go.  But it's been over a week since I've even opened the can.  The stickers are wearing off actually.  I opened it the day after christmas and I have about half a can left.  Critisize if you want, but I very well could still be dipping if it wasn't for Hooch.

So to those people that thought I was back on the can since I wasn't posting . . .  'Finger' .
good for you, your the exception and not the rule however. Fact is your % chance that you will be successful is dramatically increased using a support group. If I could have quit on my own I would have. I couldn't.

Since you chose not to be a part of the site, I wonder why you feel you need to come back here ? In any case, glad you were able to stay quit for a year.

People kick booze without going to AA too, but generally some random ass dude doesn't walk into a meeting and say " hi fellow alchoholics, can I have my one year chip, and I did it without a meeting or a sponsor!!, look at me yay me"

Just sayin, yaaaay you, nice job , but buzz off.

Anyway, I have about 1/4 of a can of dried up Copenhagen on the counter in my kitchen.  Haven't touched it since Friday evening.
DonÂ’t be a doosh. Trophy cans are a reallyÂ…really bad fuckin idea. HowÂ’s about you flush the fuckin can o deth as soon as you walk your happy little ass in the kitchen this afternoon? You are an addict friend. No better than a road side crack whore slingin pussy for a rock. Chances are youÂ’ll be adding water to your dried out stash in the near future if it remains accessible. You are finished. You are clean. You crossed the line of no return. You are a quitter. A fuckin man mountain of awesomeness (thanks Mr. Urlacher). You are a fuckin disciple of the Church of LOOT. Be fruitfulÂ…multiply the quitterificness of clean.

Another thoughtÂ…as an addictÂ…LOOT would bet youÂ’ve lied to, cheated on, and stolen from everyone you hold dear over your affair with Copenhagen. Your unborn child will just be the next in line. Quit for you manÂ…only you. Quitting for others will only lead to the addict resenting the one he perceives as the roadblock in the path of his continued indulgence. Think about it.

The one exception is that you have yet to lie to anyone hereÂ…especially LOOT. Your salvation lies within the confines of this domain. Used properlyÂ…you will have what youÂ’ve yet been able to achieve alone.

Before you get your panties all in a wad over LOOTÂ’s observationsÂ…know that everything LOOT typedÂ…LOOT lived. NowÂ…congrats on the quitÂ…make yourself a fixture here for a while and youÂ’ll succeed.

Be clean friend.
Well Mr. In-com-plete, I believe you have just been given sumpin of a quit blessing. So I will suggest that each day right after you post roll in your group of May 09, go to September 05 and post your promise there too. Only goo things will happen as long as you keep your word.
