Yesterday was Day 12 and man it was a tough one! I don't know why but I could not stop thinking about a dip. Well I made it through the day only to have another big challenge put in front of me today! Tailgating at the Ravens game! It will be the first game since the quit and I already informed my brother and my buddy of my quit since they are both users. Time to get through Day 13!

Congrats on surviving yesterday. I'm a few days behind you, but I felt very much in a similar smog yesterday.
I'm just jumping in here to lend support. I've already seen a few posts in various places with non-judgemental warning regarding your tailgating ritual today. If, as it's said, focus and repetition are the keys to initiating new neural pathways then you could be in for a hell of a series of tests today. Tailgating is often a ritual. If dip has been part of that ritual for you, be ready for the coals to burn your feet. Remember this: especially if everybody around you is spitting and boozin' it up ... you are making this choice for yourself, so you have given up the right to complain, whine, bitch, or preach. Under no circumstances are you allowed to turn this tailgating into a pity party ... feel the suck, gather support if your friends are able and willing, and enjoy the new road.
It's a ballsy move, man. Might be a bit risky, but I understand what it's like to want to test your will. The best I've been able to do for myself in regards to that is to walk into every local convenience store I've shopped at, to stare at every alluring can, to reconsider, and to walk away.
Focus and repetition
Focus and repetition
Focus and repetition, which to me is walking away
Have a good one, Bro!

Welcome dan. You are doing it ok, I see you posting roll in the right place too. Keep coming back every day.

The topic will always be March 2010 HOF blah blah. The easiest way to get a new post up is to act like your going to post roll but clear the bottom area and just type what you want.

Congrats on your quit.
Welcome Dan!!! Looks like you have the posting thing down so that's the most important!!! Read everything on this site. The home page has some great stories and advice. Also scroll down the forums list, you will see words of wisdom, HOF speeches, sports discussions, Wildcard section. All kinds of forums to take your mind off you craves. Posting in any of these froums will certainly introduce you to other quitters as well as posting your support in the groups ahead of you. Just becasue you have fewer days quit than other groups doesn't mean you can't support them. Chat is a real good way to get to know other quitters while distracting yourself!!

Well I decided to quit on Nov. 12 and made it about 3 days then I bitched out and talked myself into having a chew. 'bang head'  Then again on Nov. 30 I decided to go round 2! I'm on day 9 now and I think I might be able to actually do this. When does it start to not bother you? I even had a dream the other night that I had a pinch. Any advice to help me kick this shit.
First off, don't be a little bitch. (You can whine and gripe all you want, just don't stuff tobacco in your pie-hole, sorta defeats the purpose of quitting...that and it doesn't sound like it took much persuasion to talk yourself into having a chew.) By the way you'd made it three days, after that the sun would have peeked out a bit and you would have had all the nicotine out of your bloodstream, but you didn't tough it out long enough. So, at Day 9 you should be feeling a world of difference from Day 3.

Second, there is no "might be able" in quitting. Either you ARE or you are NOT going to do this. You CAN and WILL do this. Why the hell would you throw away 9 days of being clean and the freedom that comes with it to a little round can of death.

Advice...post roll first thing. This is your solemn vow to your quit brothers to not use nicotine for that day. Any quitter with at least some instestinal fortitude can stay quit for one day. That would be today. You are quitting for today. Take it hour by hour, or minute by minute. Whatever the hell it takes. You're having "dip dreams" because your mind knows that you're winning, and it's scared. Stay tuned to the site, join the March 2010 Quit Group, read and post, read and post. Use the resources available on the "Home Page". Above all keep the shit out of your lip.

B)
....as far as when it "doesn't bother you" anymore, that's a tough one. Different strokes for different folks. By 2 or 3 weeks you should be feeling much better, but it's still gonna "bother you". It just won't "bother you" as often. Times heals all wounds, but after poisoning your systems for so long, it's gonna be awhile. Just know every single day gets better. Can't chop down a mountain with your bare hands all at once. Hang tough and you'll make it.
“Time takes it all, whether you want it to or not.”
