Thanks guys. I did come clean with my wife about 2 weeks ago. She was hurt and I can tell that it still makes her upset sometimes. It was a huge load off my chest. She is supportive to me. She doesnt really know what to say cause its hard for her to relate to the feelings I'm having. She read the spousal support info from here and she said it helped her understand. I feel horrible about lying to her for years, but, we have a clean slate and a I have a whole new level of respect and love for her.

Why don't I come clean with my wife? No good excuse--mostly the embarrassment and shame. But you are right. I need to think about it.

Perfect choice for a screen name. Dipping for me was also another life. My wife knew or suspected I may have dipped from time to time, but I mostly kept it secret. This quit is also secret--which is another reason why this community is so beneficial.

Yesterday and today I have been hunting with a son (we have odd traditions), and it's not so bad. Not as bad as the first few days of the quit! The fake mint herb dip helps a great deal.

I also had that first dip dream last night. I get the impression it is a common experience. And one more thing--I have not slept as well. This is unexpected because I thought I would get better sleep without the nicotine. I think our bodies have a lot of re-balancing work to do.

Stay strong. My quit date is Nov 19. Feel free to message.
Why don't you come clean with your wife? Many of us here found that the honesty of opening up to our wives was beneficial.

Day 20 today. Haven't been sleeping well last couple nights. Last night I had a dream that a buddy of mine was getting a dip and I was telling him that I quit. Next thing I knew, I had a dip in and I swear I felt the buzz coming on. When I realized I had a dip in, I ran to the bathroom to spit it out. I was so pissed. I actually woke up and I had to make sure it was just a dream. Very weird! That ever happen to anyone? Vivid dreams?

Man, you guys are great! It's nice to have people that can relate. The quit is going ok. I'm just worried about the future. I'm worried about deer camp, the next fishing trip, working in my shop. It's really teaching me one day at a time. I have to get it through my noggin that it is NEVER ok to use tobacco again. Just have to keep on keepin on, one day at a time. You guys hang in there as well. Tx guys!
2 out of the last 3 posts of quit gospel (3 very close quit brothers of mine) just told you to worry about one thing. Today. Say it with me, "ONE DAY AT A TIME" there is no need to worry about the future or fishing trips, or deer camp. Just today. Every day brings a new challenge, and there is only one goal. Quit for that day. You can't get to day 2 unless you quit on day 1. The same will hold true as long as you quit. I'm coming up on a year, but I can't worry about that because I won't get there unless I succeed for today. That is your job...that is my job....and that is all of our jobs. We all have the same job and that's why we all promise to quit together (for ourselves and with each other) ONE DAY AT A TIME.
Lots of hunters on this site....lots of deer camps spent quitting on this site. It can be done.....ultimately every quitter had 6 to 12 things they never did without a dip in. So for you it's hunting, fishing, and working. Just like everyone else you are going to learn to do these things without dip. Do you really think hunting and fishing aren't going to be fun just because you won't have a weed in your mouth? One day at a time. You got this.
These guys know what they are talking about. One day at a time they are living freedom.

I've read almost every intro post on this site for almost 2 years. I have yet to see soneone post "deer hunting sucked without nicotine." I have seen a lot of "man I was sure worried about hunting without dip but had a great time." One of my closest contacts was so freaked out about his first hunt that he fucked up our roll call ridiculously the day of his first hunt. He had a great time.

Remember... It is daunting to think of brushing your teeth every day for the rest of your life. Just brush today. Don't worry about toothpaste in the future!

So many on here can relate to your story man. The best part about your decision is that I already believe you are a better man today than you were four days ago. You are quit. Keep post roll everyday (nice job so far) and remember the suck. Your wife and daughters will appreciate it but just as important, you will appreciate being free from the chains of an unnecessary addiction.

One day at a time you are taking your life back.

One little suggestion... I suspect you are having some struggles right now. Nothing a man of his word can't beat... But it will help you to log those challenges in your intro. Not only will the anti nic Calvary jump in to help you beat the challenges... You will have a record of your accomplishments. Many of us consider the daily victory against this drug to be one of our biggest life accomplishments - so keep a history to look back on.

You are killing it! If we can help let us know!!

One Day at a Time (ODAAT) and soon you won't feel weak and scared, you'll be kicking the nic bitch to the curb every day. Every single one of us was where you are today, and rememeber the day 1-3 feeling. I never want to go back there and feel that bad, so embrace the SUCK today, and soon it will be over.

You've had some bad ass quitters reach out man... The guys that replied are hard core. But you know what? On day 1 they felt just like you do right now. Scared. Tired. Weak. Hopeless.

It gets better. The freedom that you are taking back feels indescribable. My wife and I went to a really nice restaurant for dinner last night. A couple that could have been us walked in and sat at the table next to us. Dressed really well, but I saw the little ring in his front pocket. 45 minutes in, he told his wife he had a call to make. Then he went outside. Yeah, right....

No more making excuses, lying, hiding in the shower, late night gas station runs, worrying about anyone finding a hidden can. And no more worrying if this next trip to the dentist will be "the one." We all start the same way, but one day at a time, by posting roll and being a man of integrity, you will succeed.

If I can help let me know - my number will be in your inbox.
Congrats Other Life for taking that first step! I was a ninja dipper myself for 20 years and have quit for only 17 days, but these guys are right, the the sense of freedom is amazing!!
It is SO worth it...you can do this!! If you need to talk to someone going through it right now, let me know.
