This old guy says do this quit correctly now at age 23, and you won't the regret of decades of use and having to go through this at age 43 - when there is a ton of other shit to deal with!
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

ChickDip, you only took a break last time. This time is forreal. Picking it up again just isn't an option this time. You got this.

Went out and got a long time coming gym membership today to sweat out some of the crap I've put in my system, so I'm just swapping a bad habit out for a good one. I tried to stay busy enough and use Smokey inbetween to where the cravings weren't all that bad. Just bad enough that I had to make an effort to ignore them, but nothing I can't handle.

Heed this man's advice, he's spot on and as badass a quitter as they come.

I just wanted to emphasize something you wrote, it will be good for you to recognize what you're doing and for others to see what it takes:

This here is a whatever it takes mentality to make sure you don't put dip/nicotine in your mouth. Cravings will be tough, but they will surpass and diminish over time. The only way to get there is to win now. These actions you wrote are examples of how you do that, and I want to commend you. Jumping onto the website, reading, posting, chat, exchange phone numbers...all are ways to do whatever it takes to stay nicotine free. Keep it up bro.

Nice work jmann.

I also tackled this quit while in nursing school. It's tough but it can be done one day at a time.

Get fake or whatever and set up for success.

Reach out to "old guys" and your peers in your group to get that push you are looking for.

Hypocrisy has already been punching me in the head. In our clinical rotations I've had to present teaching projects to patients for credit in classes - more than one has been to teaching smoking cessation. I felt shameful about it and would ignore the feeling my conscience was feeding me. I appreciate the advice and another reason for me to be kept accountable, and I'm glad to hear from someone else in the medical field. I'll take your words to heart and keep pushing forward.

You did not quit, you stopped.
How can you somehow end up bumming a dip? You made a decision to fill your lip up, now you have to make the decision to quit.
Will drinking adversely affect your quit? Only you can answer this one but alot of caves happen when people are out partying.

You are on the right track since you flushed your can. Learn how to post roll in the Welcome Center and then get over to July Quit Group and introduce yourself. Then read all you can. The first few days will be rough, we call it the suck, but you will make it. You need to embrace the suck and remember why you want to rid yourself of this poison. PM me if you need anything.
I see that you are reading how to post roll right now, don't worry if you screw it up a few times. A lot of us found it difficult while in the fog. The main thing show your sincerity and make contacts that you can reach out to for help. The support among the brotherhood will help you.

These guys speak truth. I had also "quit before;" realized the language was wrong: I had stopped. I hadn't quit.

The first few days are terrible; LOTS of water, LOTS of working out... I'm using the fake stuff occasionally now (Jake's) for the oral fixation. On day 23 now... feels great, but cravings still creep.

Use the board. Stay with this: it's worth it!
