Maine - where you at brother? Still quit, or will you quit tomorrow, or was it the next day?

Get into your quit group, post roll and get on with it. Do it now.

First off- thanks to all for reaching out and your words of encouragement. I've neglected doing the Roll Post thing but I have stayed clean. When I get a chance to sign in on something other than a smartphone, I'll get that squared away. Until then I'll just keep on quitin' and expect nothing less from the rest of you.

I bought two more cans of Jakes yesterday - it helps!

As an aside; I'm seriously ready to tear somebody's head off. That's not my usual MO and I hope it passes soon.
Maine - around here posting roll is essentially your "price of admission" on this site and within these forums. It shows you're committed to being quit and committed to supporting your fellow brothers/sisters in quit. Don't use the smartphone thing as an excuse not to post roll. You are posting in this forum, so you know how to post. Just go to the June '16 page (I know you know how to get there), click add reply (easily done from a smartphone) and type in "Maine - day 2" ...pretty simply. One of the vets will pick it up from there and copy and paste into the main roll post. If not on roll, I question how serious you are about quitting...I hope I'm wrong...
To reiterate what was said earlier. Posting roll is the price of admission. Hell test me you have my number. Ill put you on roll. Not sure about how your starting out here man. First you want to set a quit date now you have excuses about posting roll. If you want to do it your own way then fine don't waste our time anymore. If you really want to quit here get your ass on roll.

Maine

I'm worried for you because this feels like you're sliding into your quit a little unsure and uneasy. The first thing you have to do is get pissed and stay pissed at the can/dip/nic whatever you want to call it. You've allowed it to rob you of so many things over the past 35 years, it has to stop now and you have to be 200% committed. It's gonna suck and the mind games are a daily sometimes hourly battle. You can't go at it alone so thank God you found this site and can lock arms with brothers in the same boat and fight together. Learning to post roll and be accountable to your group is the first and most important thing you can do. Then read the shit out of this site and make some personal connections so you have back up with some of the guys in your group.

You cannot half ass this. Dive in and make it your focus for a while and get into a rhythm with posting your promise to quit EVERY DAY, FIRST THING!

The time is now - delete your 3-3-16 quit date and put the correct date of today or yesterday and don't look back!!

I'm a born and bred buckeye living in Maine. Can anyone tell me what "Post roll" means? There's a lot of jargon on this site that us new guys don't understand.

I've read numerous stories about the extreme difficulty of the quit. Are there any stories that go something like "So I quit a week ago and it kind of sucks because I miss dipping, but it hasn't been that hard for me""? I know it's different for everyone, and maybe I'm being naive, but I don't think I'm going to struggle too badly. I'm just being honest. Maybe it's going to kick my ass on day 10 or something like that.
Hey Maine I am going to message you my phone number. I will quit with you every day. I myself am on day 11. Days 1-3 were pretty rough for me - the withdrawl has been the absolute worst part of this journey so far. You will more than likely have cravings and urges daily even after the withdrawl. I recommend keeping some herbal chew around for quite some time and even for some time after you think you don't need it. Caving to herbal chew is a hell of a lot better than pumping nicotine into your body and brain.

I will caution you against getting cocky or complacent with your quit. I quit for just under 50 days once and just one cocky day put me right back to my can a day addiction. I'm just being real with you - the best thing you can do is wake up and quit for today. Make it through your day, go to bed and when you wake up tomorrow then you quit for tomorrow.

I feel great at day 11 - I have my moments throughout the day where the cravings get somewhat strong but I am stronger. KTC (kill the can) is a great site and a great brotherhood of quitters to help you make it through the hard days.

Click the top right corner where it says INBOX to see my message to you.

Come on Maine - it's time to post roll. That begins this journey of reaching freedom. Posting roll is an honor and a promise that you will not use any form of nicotine for the day. It's a promise to yourself and to us. When you join the June 2016 group your fellow quitters will make the same daily promise to you. I tried by myself hundreds of times and always failed - but we are not alone here. I've promised my brothers here 527 days in a row that I would not use for the day and have kept my word. Tomorrow, I will start again - what are you going to do?
Don't be afraid.  You are not alone.

355 days! Dude, that's awesome!
Thanks man! I want you there next year at this time...let's go!
Its about keeping us the same number of days apart.
There are no circumstances in which using nicotine will improve the outcome.

My journey. The best part it is not over yet.

Maine - I saw you lurking in the June '16 quit group. Get your ass on roll and be done with that shit for good. Forget the weaning off until you hit March 3rd...you're just fooling yourself if that's your approach. Quit now...right now. Going cold turkey is the best way to go.

Here's what I think...you're trying to hang on to that old friend who has been slowly killing you for 35 years, but you can't quite grasp life without it even though you are so desperate to be done with it. So, keep stuffing that poison in your mouth for a little bit longer...then you'll quit for sure, right? Doubt it. If the news from your appointment isn't that you'll be dead in a week, I'm guessing you'll use that to rationalize just "one more dip." You'll keep saying one more dip and then I'll quit...that will go on until finally you get your death sentence. That will be a fun conversation to have with your family.

Bottom line is this...you're killing yourself whether you want to admit that or not. You're strong enough to toss that can right now and be done for good. Don't delay...there is no time like right now. you are stronger than a little round can, right?

Don't think you'll have this easier than most...you won't...you're not an exception. Just make your promise first thing every day by posting roll and hold that promise for 24 hours...then repeat. Get some tools like seeds, gum, mints, etc. and drink water...it will save you when cravings hit. Connect with guys on this site...get phone #'s and ask questions, get advice. If you're truly committed, you will succeed.

...just go post up in the June 16 group now. I'm at 355 days, closing in on a year...damn, what a f*king great feeling that is!

Posting roll is simply putting your promise top use no nicotine for 24 hours online for all the members here to see. It may seem silly, but is very effective. More detail here: topic/10391308/1/#new. You should also read through the posts in the welcome center tab to get your bearings.

Are there stories where quit was easy? Stranger things have happened, but it seems prudent to prepare for a battle. The underlying addiction is strong and the mental challenge may be tougher than the immediate physical withdrawal. YMMV.
If you quit yesterday you will be in the June 16 group. Here
