And don't let Magnum's ad for Swedish snus make you think that snus is acceptable.  Nicotine is nicotine.  (Just kidding, Mag).
;)
oh i know nic is nic. i was just curious of the difference! :D
This is the key...

I keep telling all of these guys that rag on me for the Snus thing... If I am here there must be a reason to not use snus. And there are more than one. Its an addiction, it can kill you, its retarded expensive, and your a slave to a damn leaf.

I don't know how much more I have to say. It is a different animal from dip, just like smokes are, but everything about the addiction is the same.

I don't like that I can't try to educate people who don't even know what it is without others trying to discredit me. LaQuitter probably knows I am serious about my quit by now but him saying "just kidding" is likely false impression because he wouldn't have said "And don't let Magnum's ad for Swedish snus make you think that snus is acceptable " otherwise. I don't know how many times I have to say that I am here for a reason. If I was pushing Swedish snus on people I would not be putting so much damn effort in to my own quit and helping so many others.

Nicotine is nicotine. I don't care if you get it from smoke, dip, snus, gum, or patches. Either way your a pathetic addict giving in to a worthless poison. Does that make sense? Do you want to wake up every day and in any way put insecticide in your body and say that it helps you function?

That is why I quit. I don't give a shit what your delivery method was, you triggers might be different than me but you addiction is the same.

One day at a time... Never touch it again.

Calm down as much as you can guys. Sometimes I feel as though I had a worse addiction (I don't by the way, we are all the same) because I kept a pinch in for only about 20 minutes and would swap it out immediately with another. Since I used swedish snus no one knew I was using because you don't have to spit and it was in the upper lip. I would not at any time be without one... sometimes I would eat with it in since swallowing it doesn't affect you like dip does. Quite literally, I had no more than about an hour of non-use per day. With swedish snus you could also sleep with it in without problem.

I honestly felt like quitting would be the same saying goodbye to my penis then chopping it off and throwing it in a river. Yeah, it was that bad. Once you commit to the quit you will realize that you can do it and it is only as hard as you make it. I made it hard on myself and wish I hadn't.

Let me know if you guys need anything.
thanks magnum! that dip sounds crazy! did it just like taste sweet or somethin?
It is just made with a different process but delivers more nicotine than American style dip. In fact "snuff" is what the English translation for snus is. The Scandinavians were the first to make oral tobacco common and they introduced it to the English people in the form of snus. The translation changed from Snus to snuff.

It has no sugar added to it like the American dip so it doesn't create spit. In essence it is like Snus is like southern comfort and dip is like Smirnoff ice. Each one gets your drunk (health problems) but one is just a different delivery system with a different flavor.

But it is completely unlike what the American companies are releasing under the name "snus". Skoal, Marlboro, and Camel are trying to take advantage of the new anti-smoking laws and trying to get smokers to switch to something that is not chewing tobacco that no "sophisticated" person would use. But really all they are selling is pouch chew that is dried out a little more.

And no, Swedish (not american) snus is completely unsweetened with no sugar at all. American dip and chew are the sweetest flavored tobaccos you will find. This is how they target the youth, even Kodiak and Copenhagen are sweet as hell compared to all the snus I tried during my years. You can swallow it because it is not fire cured and sweetened which makes it create spit.
thats very interesting mag, i guess ya learn somethin new everyday!

In short, living life is the "trigger". Believe me, we understand. You now have to learn to live your life without nicotine. Survive the 3-4 days of withdrawal, then its just a mind game.

And don't let Magnum's ad for Swedish snus make you think that snus is acceptable. Nicotine is nicotine. (Just kidding, Mag).

thats what i needed to hear. i decided to quit today and havent looked back. your work day seems exactly like mine (except for the conference meetings and whatnot haha) hopefully i can concentrate on some work and not having a dip. just ordered some hooch snuff tonite have you tried that at all? i just feel like i need something in my lip for now and ween off it eventually!
Just speaking from my own experience, if you're trying to make it suck less I'm pretty sure there is no such thing. Drink water. Get rest. Eat sensibly. Embrace the suck. That's the advice I was given, and I think it's good counsel.

If you tell yourself you can't make it unless it sucks less, you'll fail. I'm no quit guru. I know more about what fails than what succeeds. I know this though: if you tell yourself you "need something" in order to keep from putting poop in your lip, you are already secretly plotting to put poop in your lip. So, get picky with yourself when you catch yourself saying things like that.

The only thing you need is the resolve to quit. Your commitment to quit will keep you quit, for exactly as long as you are committed - neither more nor less. So you need to design ways to strengthen that commitment.

Fake snuff cannot keep you from feeling bad. If you really understand the implications of that (I didn't) fake snuff might have a good role.
