Welcome Jade.  Just left the hill country (Stephenville/Dublin area) to settle out in Georgia.  You must be some tough stock to farm out in west Texas; only thing between there and the North Pole is a barbed wire fence. Love that you praised your lady, made my scalp itch as I don't do it enough. I'm as young as you are and chewed copenhagen just as long.  Still get urges, itches for it really but the white knuckling has passed and the freedom from addiction is FANTASTIC!  Glad you're here brother.

Hey Jade,
Welcome to the group.
You are never too old to join. I finally quit at the ripe old age of 59 and am 63 now.
Quitting was something I could never do more than 9 months until I found this site.
Impressive that you have quit for over 33 days. I did something similar before I joined.

The main thing to do is to find your quit group and to post roll call daily.
I lived by roll call. There is just something reassuring.
It also helps people to join on the intro areas to lend support and to join the chat rooms to give and get support.

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

The next important thing is to learn how to distract your attention. When you get those thoughts about dipping, switch your attention and think about something else. Anything else that you like. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially on your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

Even though you are well on your way you will get urges. I got really strong urges when I hit major milestone dates like 50 days, 100 days, 1 year, etc. So even when you stop feeling those urges do not let your guard down. When you think you have this licked those thoughts come creeping around the corner. Be ready for them and stay strong.

I quit with you today.
Dudnippin - day 1243.

Introduction
« on: February 03, 2019, 09:47:46 PM »
Hello, my name is Jade, I’m a 51 year old farmer in west Texas. I’ve dipped through high school and college and most of my adult life. I quit 15 years ago for a life insurance physical, I stayed off snuff for a year and a half...don’t even remember why I started back, I’m sure it was a stupid reason. I’ve kept my dentist appointments through the years and stay current with my family doctor...no problems with my health.  My plan was to quit when my dentist told me I needed to quit, he says you look fine and I’ll see you in 6 months. I decided on Jan 2nd that I was quitting, I didn’t tell my family at the time. My wife figured it out in about an hour...haha,our kids are grown and my wife told them the next day. My wife is my best friend and her support is always unwavering, she is a remarkable lady and I am blessed to have her in my life. I pray every day for the strength to stay tobacco free another day...all things are possible through God! I started posting roll a few days ago and decided I needed to introduce myself to the group ...I’m on day 33 and I am proud to quit with y’all...it’s unbelievable how much control nicotine has over our physical/emotional feelings...
