Hey there He and She

I was like you in contemplating, but then just dropped it in the toilet one afternoon. And to say that was only 11 days ago, but I am through the worst of the symptoms (so they say), and feeling so much better.

So take the advice that you are seeing, go ahead and both of you just quit. Don't try, don't hope, just throw the shit away and quit.

We will be here and ready for when you do to offer the support, the KTC way.

I'll promise you my quit, now want you both to do the same.

My husband and I are seriously considering quitting chewing. So I started looking online and found this website. We are open to suggestions regarding cold turkey vs tapering down before the "quit date" and does fake chew help? As many we have tried to quit on several different occasions, obviously and sadly to no avail, very frustrating to have a little can rule ur life:( Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.:) thank u for ur time
Flush the crap, post roll and start getting your life back today... There is no tapering down and today is your "Quit date". There is a ton of support on this site and you can do this. Read everything on this site and get to quitting...

Wt57 is right. There is no "tapering down". That is just a marketable, although innacurate, terminology. All it actually does is prolong the agony. There is one fact: to beat this thing, and addict will first go through withdrawal symtoms. The duration of those withdrawal symtoms is strictly up to the addict.

There are two options:
1. Quit cold turkey. Research shows that nicotine will be flushed from your body in about 72 hours.

2. Use patches, etc that promise a "taper down". Dependent on which method or brand that is used, this can take weeks or even months. Your body will inflict some form of withdrawal symptoms on you for the entire duration of that process. Then, in the end, at the very core of that system, you still have to eventually take that last step to completely stop using nicotine. At that point, nicotine will be flushed from your body in about 72 hours.

You do the math. Either way, you will have to suffer that 3-day period. WIth option 2, there is just a whole lot of suffering prior to that. And, by the time you get to the end of the "taper down", you could be posting double or triple-digit numbers for your days quit. Quit cold turkey today so that your bodies can immediately start the healing process.

I've tried, but I can't resist commenting on your opening statement. The word "considering" indicates that you are not yet committed to saving your lives. You probably already know how tough this process is. The only way you will be successful is to be 100% comitted to quitting. It has to be the foremost thing in your lives for at least the first month. Getting the correct mindset was half the battle for me.

I'm not trying to be tough or difficult, I'm just very passionate about what the nicotine addiction entails. I'm proud of my quit and hope to see you posting roll today. NOTE: you can't post roll here until you are completely nicotine free. No taperers can post. Reach out if either of you have questions or need any help. Assistance is only a PM away.

She Hunter and He Hunter-- There is no tapering down. I've been that route it doesn't work the quit date never really comes. you can go and read what I did in my intro My good Cave I had planned to do just that and in the process found this website and started reading. The more I read the more I realized the only way to quit was cold turkey and now!!! I quit 103 days ago after almost 40 yrs. of addiction.
Quitting has got to be something that you really want and it has to be for you and only you. If not you will fail! There are 1000's of quitters here that quit everyday and return the next day to do it again.
Go to the Welcome Center read about posting roll. Read Words of Wisdom, HOF speechs and intro pages to see what is going on here and how much quit is taking place. You will see people posting day 1 and others posting days in the 1000's all supporting each other. Like you we all have tried to stop numerous times but the quit rate here is truely impressive for those that stick with daily promises and supporting their fellow quitters.
As far as Fake Dip you will find as many opinions about it as there are people here. Some avoid it completely and go for seeds, coffee grounds, hard candy, mints etc. Others like me have used fake dip and found it useful, I accually had a fake dip in my mouth most of the first 2 months of quit. Then I started noticing that I hardly every used it. Now at 103 days I probably average using it 1 -2 times a week.
I promise you if you really want to quit and are dedicated to the daily role posting and take your promise serious you will be overwelmed by the success and support you will find here.
