Overit - Good to see someone older than me on here. Eventually us old dudes wise up. Dip is not a life enhancement solution.

Your ass better stick with it. I'm quitting with you today. Keep it going. Own it.

Hi there.

Guess what - I'm over it too! I hate nicotine.

So,the first thing you need to do is post roll. (your promise to yourself and to all of us that you will not use nicotine at all for any reason in any form for 24 hours - today) See the link above that was left for you.

Next, get into chat. Start talking to other addicts that can help you. Yep, addicts. You are one. I am one. All of us are. Nicotine addicts. The whole lot of us!

Then, I want you to read everything you can on this site. There is so much information that will help you remain strong, give you help so you know what to expect as you go thru this quit journey, and honest to God real life tough love if you need it.

Yes, we have all done the "just one" in the past - we know that doesn't work. One is too many, One thousand is never enough. Yes, we have all had near death experiences or life changing scares, but we still find a way to fill our lips with that crap. Hell, I had a dip about 3 hours after my third dental implant...and yes, it was caused by dipping Kodiak. I hate that shit. Come hate that shit with me!

Get ready to feel what we call "the suck". Get ready to get mad - no worries, we can take it! Most importantly, get ready to feel some accountabliity. We cannot quit for you, however we will quit with you. All you have to do post your word, keep your word, and then grab any one of the thousands of hands that reach out to you.

Now scream with me....I HATE YOU NICOTINE!!!

I will be watching for you to get involved here.....right after I see that roll post.

Until I do, I will be here, quitting like a girl.....

  • Interests: Well, there's no acceptable way to say goodbye here. You're either all in, or get out. I'm checking out. I do appreciate having a bunch of quitters to shoot the shit with, to distract each other from difficulty and share encouragement. Those of you who stay and pay it forward are better than I for doing so. I do congratulate all of you for finding the strength to quit and the toughness to stay quit. Stay strong. Stay quit.I just don't feel net positive from the time I spend here, and I don't feel like the KTC system itself has any bearing on my quit. That's not to say it doesn't work if you invest in it, but y'all have known since day one I believe I can do this myself. I've got family and friends I'm accountable to. I've been enjoying every single day of not having to feed an addiction. Even that first week, I loved being able to say no. I'm all in for improving my health and not making stupid choices.I'm going to continue to say no to nicotine for the rest of my life. You do the same. All the best. Ben.P.S. Fuck Marty Barrington.

Good decision. Now be stubborn.

I'm on day 4, I'll look for your name on roll call. We can do this.

Over it !
« on: October 14, 2014, 05:59:00 PM »
So I started smoking when I was around 13, at 30 I decided I needed to quit so a coworker handed me a can of Kodiac " just to get over the hump" and here I am at 58 and was still dipping up to a few minutes ago. I just dumped my can and have decided enough is enough.

The odd thing is, I know I really don't need tobacco. I quite once for 6 or 7 months and started again on a whim. I'm sure you all know how it goes.
Just a dip for old times sake, I really won't get hooked again. Then a day or two later another dip, then it's all down hill.

The last time I quit was May 17th of this year. I was in the hospital for a kidney transplant for 5 days and had no desire for a dip at all.
After a few weeks I thought " I just got a new kidney, no way I would ever make a habit of dipping again". You know the rest.

Pretty sad that something as life changing as a kidney transplant wasn't enough to get me to keep off the snuff.

The thing I really feel worst about is that my wife doesn't know I started again. That is really one of my main motivations. It would devastate her to find out. I owe it to both of us to quit, and have just decided that I have!

Haven't perused the site much, but am planning on doing so now.

Thanks! Wish me luck!
