Day 8 is going well. I got a good night sleep for the second night in a row and the lifesavers and smokey mountain are helping today. Unfortunately I had to give up the seeds.... they are chewing up my gums and cheek pretty bad...anyone else ever have a problem with that? I sucked on seeds for a full day pretty much nonstop so it's no big surprise my mouth hurts......
Same problem, but in reverse.

I was using Smokey Mountain more than seeds. And my gums looked just as bad as when I was dipping. I think anything that you put in your lip or cheeks is gonna cause damage.

Last night was great! No problems sleeping at all... and I'm feelin' good today. I did chew a metric ton of sunflower seeds yesterday so I need to lay off them a bit today.

Funktronic, AJ, Rickddd: do you guys do any recording? If so what DAW do you use? I'm thinking, if you are interested, we could share tracks and record our parts individually and see what we come up with. I have Reaper, ProTools, Cubase, Magix MM14, and a few others. If you don't have a DAW but want one, Reaper is free and is pretty badass. Just thought we could get some kinda collaboration project going.
That would be pretty cool! I don't do any home recording now. I'll check out Reaper sometime and see if I can figure it out.

Damn, that would be awesome. But I don't have anything. or even the equipment like mikes and whatnot. Nor do I have the money to do so at this time. It will be something that I can look into for the future. I did a lot of work on pro-tools in college in a studio. Took some audio engineering classes. Bit out of practice with it though.

I need a bass player.... and a drummer..... and someone who can sing WAY better than I can. Most of my jamin' friends have moved out of the area so I play solo a lot these days. I use a looper (Boss loopstation) and homemade stomp board for live stuff, and backing tracks at home.

I'm gonna need a "Kill the sunflower seed" support group before long....
Haha, I hear ya bro!!! I went thru bags of them early on, and probably 20 bags of jolly ranchers too. I promise they are easier to quit than dip! but dont even worry about it for now.

Good to see a fellow guitarist quitting! How long you been playing? what do you play?
Rickddd.. I play a little of everything. I've been playing bluegrass for a long time but I've recently gotten back into the electric side and have been playing a lot of Heavy blues, and rockabilly.

I'm so used to dipping while playing that it's taking some getting-used-to to practice without dip.
You'll get used to playing without dip. Have you tried the herbal/fake stuff? it really helped me out in my early quit days.

I play classic rock, cover band stuff mostly. 80s to early 90s is kinda my wheelhouse. Also a little country, but I'm a rocker at heart.

Applejack is also a guitar player on this site, good dude, I'm sure you'll cross his path along the way here too.
That's my cue :)

I've been meaning to post something and ask you about your musical background. Rickddd beat me to it :) I'm a session player and have been a studio cat for years. I totally understand your whole thing about playing with a dip in. I've been playing for 35 years. Quitting dip caused an upheaval in my playing. Can I actually play without chew!? Duh. Of course I can! It may take awhile bro, but you'll turn it around. Music has NOTHING to do with dip. Stay the course... Post roll... Keep playing. You'll be amazed at what happens. Pm me brutha... I'll be more than happy to help!
Hell AJ will sext you some pictures of his "strings" even!
My strings rock 'oh yeah'
NO SEXTS PLEASE!!! haha

I'm down here playing right now. I can actually play and sing a whole song without having to stop, grab my spitter, spit, then continue the song.... who knew? and my fingers still work even without copenhagen.... I was thinking about it earlier and realized that I've been dipping and smoking longer than I've been playing guitar so I've never played guitar clean....
Rush rules and Pinched plays a mean Hungarian crotch bugle.

Quit on...
Sweet!!! More musicians. I'm a bass player and play a lot of upright with a church band and a bluegrass group and slap a bit a dah bass from time to time. Once people found out I was an upright player I have been more busy. one day I will thump with bela. Probably not. But one can dream no?
