Congrats and welcome. Just a little piece of advice. I'm not one to judge or give somebody to much shit but its probably not a good idea using a prescription drug to get off the nic bitch. If you are an addict and I assume you are by your coming to this site and posting then you have an addictive type behavior pattern. For most people this usually transfers over into most areas of their lives. Don't trade one addiction for another. Be strong and be quit. Nic free is the only way to truly live.

Great choice. But Valium? C'mon bro...pills and patches are for pussies. You can beat this if YOU commit to it. Everyone on here has done it and we're here for you. But swapping nicotine for Valium is stupid. You gotta grow a pair, give your word by posting roll, and fight like he'll to keep your word. We're behind you. You don't need pills.

You want a chew. We all know what that is about. But what you need is to fight through and keep that quit. If you've done 5 days give another, you've already shown you can.

If it was easy everybody would walk away from nicotine as soon as the though popped into his/her head. If it was easy millions wouldn't die every year from self induced cancer deaths.

Welcome. Check your (Inbox 1) upper right corner of your screen.

I will bare the bad news. There is no magic pill. Don't get yourself addicted to the damn valium either.

If your word of honor means anything, you can do this. Follow the links I sent. When you understand what posting roll means and are willing to keep your word, go post roll. Then hang on to your ass.

You can do this. I was exactly where you are now 1,179 days ago.

I see this is your first post so I assume you have not posted roll so here is some reading material

http://www.killthecan.org/community/welcome.asp

You will see this site operates on the notion of quitting one day at a time by posting roll every morning. So, may I suggest that you join us by posting roll in the August 2011 group?

Now, what I am about to say is not about busting your balls. Everyone in here knows what you mean. Your first love, Copenhagen, is not keeping you warm, getting you through ex-girls, etc. She has your ass and she damn may kill you if you do not throw her butt to the curb. Good riddance. She is a lying sack of shit. You know why you feel like crap? Her!

Now lets get busy quitting and get busy living. I am here for you. PM me if I can help in any way. If you sign roll, get ready for a ton of support.

Tossed the Can

Turned 40 recently and after 26 years, I have decided to walk away from my first love...Copenhagen. She kept me warm on Winter nights and cool in balmy climates; She got me through 3 loony ex-girlfriends, SERE school, and Robin Sage; She was my first love...an unequivocal romance dependent upon one another. She was my life.

On 4/25/11, I walked out of my cardiologists office. He had just spent 20 minutes explaining to me that pounding my heart with nicotine for that long isn't good, and since I somehow made it to 40, I should turn a new leaf and see what life would be like whilst not being under the nicotine spell. I thought for a minute. Man, I started dippin around the same time my nuts dropped! That is a long time. I said "OK". I threw the can away in his exam room, paid the bill, and lumbered out of his office...my mind awash with thoughts of how my olfactory senses will go haywire. Food will taste different; certain smells will be more pronounced.

I am on Day #5. I am irritable, have sweaty palms, wake up every hour with vivid dreams in which my dogs die in gruesome ways, and I havent had an erection in 48 hours. My system is simply confused and overloaded with misfiring electrical charges that used to be quelled by throwing in a dip and relaxing.

I eat...I want a chew; I watch Golf Channel...I NEED a chew; sitting in front of my computer typing....forget about it. I am going nuts!

This morning I called my GP Doc, and told her what was happening. While she was "proud" of me, she suggested sunflower seeds. I suggested she set her sights a little higher...like aligned with mine. By the end of the conversation, she took pity and phoned in a scrip for valium to the pharmacy. I raced down and picked up the magic bottle, and am back home...feeling a ton better. Those of you that are Noob Quitters like myself, I recommend getting your Doc to prescribe something to "take the edge off". I know it's trading one evil for the other, but it truly does help.

That is my introduction, as rambling as it was.

I WILL beat this habit.
