Oh my. That's some courage right there my friend. And it's still early for the both of us. I bet it's hard to remember a life without dip for you.

We are lucky to have a second chance. Let's do this.

Congrats on the 7 days!! I was still counting in hours at that point. Awesome!
I'm quitting with you GA! I was 46 when I joined and had 28 years of slavery to the bitch. You can do this. 303 days came one day at a time. Ping me if you need anything at all. One week is BadASS!
28 years . . wow I bet he hold was strong! Almost a year for you . . keep at it.

Agree wholeheartedly. Own your quit and then think of all the money you bank. Nice thought.
Doesn't seem like much at 5 bucks a day or 25 a week. But over the years it's ridiculous.

Especially for something that becomes your master and can kill you.

I am so grateful to have found this site. Well, I found it a while back and almost pulled the trigger but was chickenshit.

I really don't think I would have ever done it alone. I tried "cutting back" . . that's horse shit.

I feel REALLY GOOD at 7 days--like almost too good, like I'm half expecting the devil to get his due at any moment. My sleep has been OK. I still have the oral fixation--and the Smokey Mountain Wintergreen is almost *too good* to fix that . . like I'm worried I'm only extending a problem by using it so I think I'll stop using it when the seeds/gum seem to do ok in that department.

Also, only seven days in, I'm learning the contempt for caving. In a big way.

Thank you all so, so much. I feel like a free man, and can't believe I let tobacco/nicotine dictate my life for so long.

Regards,
GA

I just looked in Quicken. I've spent roughly 8000 dollars on this bitch since since the beginning of 2007.

That's more than I've spent on:

life insurance
auto insurance
property taxes
medical care
home maintenance
clothing
auto service

(not all together but individually)

You fucking bitch.

Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

Day 4 was not unlike Day 3 or Day 2 . .

A lot of dip on the mind.

I'm having quite the Day 5 Zen moment though. At least this morning.

Hang in there early quitters.

Well on my way to completing day 2 . . and it has been much easier than Day 1. Day 1 I wake up without a dip and it was a long, brutal day. Full of blurred vision, stomach cramps, rough time in the bathroom, stiff neck, chills (like a fever) where I couldn't get warm, all the way to stinking in my sweat as I had a restless night.

Day 2 isn't as bad. Cravings coming and going.

Maybe Day 3 will be more like Day 2 than Day 1.

Thanks errbody.
Ahh.. the good ole days. Just hang in there GA. Things will get better. Keep writing in your intro so you never forget these early days!
Some sound advice from some badass quitters. Just know that we're all fighting the same fight. Day 1,000 is no different than day 100 or day 10. We're all one dip away from day 1.
