You're doing great, moroco!  And like everyone has said, jaw pain is one of the most common withdrawal complaints - and the healing can take a while.

Bit the bullet and went to the Dentist today.  I've never been so scared in my life.  I am convinced I have jaw cancer.  He did a thorough check of my entire mouth and tongue and xrayed my jaws.  He found nothing except that I grind my teeth so I have to get a mouth guard.  I am so relieved.  Thank God!

That is a HUUUUGE win.  Now you can relax and focus on your quit.  Nothing more to be anxious about.

Hang tough.  Suffering from some jaw pain is pretty normal.  If it is stressing you out go see your doctor and/or dentist again.

Exercise and drinking plenty of fluids was a huge help for me early on.  I also did a little bit of "rage" landscaping (clearing brush and cutting down trees) when I felt I needed to get some aggression out.  Find something that works for you that doesn't involve nicotine.  Don't worry about gaining a little weight.  You can always lose the weight again later.

There are a lot of good people here that know exactly what you are going through.  Reach out if you need help.

I've done this once for almost a year and am starting over.  At day 13.  My jaw hurts.  It comes in waves.  Im determined this time to stop forever.  Yes, I'm a girl.  I used kodiak for years to suppress my appetite and it worked.  I was a closet dipper.  It relaxed me, made me calm.  Well I went to a shrink and got put on anti anxiety meds.  Seem to be helping me.  Anyone else have the jaw pain?

Day 1,428 here.  I quit at 49 years old and I actually found this site while searching for reasons why my mouth went numb after 3 or 4 days without nicotine.  It took a long time for my mouth to feel "normal" again.  Keep up on those dentist appointments and realize that it takes time to recover from years of poisoning your gums.  I quit with you today!
Hi there...yeah the jaw pain is normal. It goes away though. Know what's worse? Cutting your jaw off....keep quitting! Keep a jaw. Quittin' like a girl, Lady G ♡ day 2042...PS I'm in CO too

Been out on the road so missed your first couple days Moroco. Congrats on the best decision you could make regarding nicotine. After using that many years, it will take a long time to readjust. I hit 2 years nicotine free today after 34 years of on and off usage. I have to learn what normal is, as my usage started in early teenage years. This site made it possible. This site got me to 2 years. Make your promise, keep your word. Every damn day, one day at a time and you will be quit. Reach out to anyone on the site for support. Contacts can save your quit which in turn can save your life.  Feel free to pm me for my number and I will quit with you daily, every damn day

Welcome. You made the best decision of your life to quit using nicotine. You know what's at stake: Do or die!  It really is a life or death decision. We choose to stay free and live, one day at a time.

You don't need to worry about anything else right now...just quit. If you gain a few pounds, you'll have the rest of your life to work them off. Your jaw pain is very likely normal and will likely go away soon. Some of the jaw pain might have some connection to your other dental issues, but I'm betting you'll feel much relief in short order. We recommend everyone see their dentists as soon as they can after quitting. Tell your dentist you recently quit, and he or she can give your mouth a close look. Dentists are our friends now. If you do need some additional work done, the savings from not buying Kodiak will add up fast! I've already saved about $7,500.

Keep kicking ass. Wake up, piss, post. Every Damn Day. Make your promise to take nicotine off the table for the day, one day at a time. Keep your word. Repeat. Simple, but not easy.

Yes, you read that right but my story is the same as everyone else's (well most everyone else's).  I was 26 and on the trip of a lifetime - backpacking and kayaking on a NOLS course in Alaska.  Before that trip I don't even think I knew what dip was LOL.  I certainly didn't know anyone who did it.  I'm from Washington DC, former Div I swimmer and currently living in Denver so I'm not down South or on a farm or in the sticks or any other place where dipping is considered more prevalant or normal.  Anyway, back to Alaska.  I was with a group of about 16 people half female half male.  A bunch of the guys were already dipping and gave us girls a can to take on our solo trip.  I remember sitting down after dinner along a river and we all took some.  I think it was coppenhagen.  I remember getting vividly ill but I continued to do it.  I loved the buzz it gave me and it made me feel full.  Back I went to DC after three months of dipping out in the open and I thought that would be the end of it but it wasn't.  This disgusting habit followed me for the next 23 years from DC to NY to Denver.  I did it always in private and no one, not a single person except my dentist knew.  Said dentist did not come into my life until last year (avoided dentist all this time) when I managed to quit for about a year after having four back teeth removed but then started back this past Feb due to work stress.  Dip calmed me, made me feel awake and alive and served as a de-stresser from my stressful job in law.  I came to this site last year but didn't really pay attention to how it works.  Im back and it's been 24 days.  It is harder to quit the second time.  And I'm afraid Im going to get fat but this time is do or die.  My dr prescribed zoloft so on top of adjusting to the heinous side effects of that I'm also withdrawing fro nic. I'm so scared of having my face cut off.  No sores or anything in the mouth but my jaw hurts.  I think it's TMJ from getting four molars pulled out last year and not having the funds to get implants. Maybe now that Im saving approx $220 a month i can get them LOL.  Anyways, thanks for the support.  Sorry for the ramble

Moroco-I did have jaw pain within the first 3-4 weeks. Not constant, like you, in waves. Also, I was a closet dipper as well. That made me be a big time loner. I missed out on years of interactions with people because I would rather have been alone to dip. Since quitting, I have found also that it really did act as a anti lot’s of things drug for me. It kept my temper in check, which I am learning all over how to handle thst. Anxiety, social interactions...you name it, I am learning all over how to do all that without nicotine or the comfort of a dip. It really is like learning to live all over again. I’ve never struggled with weight, til I quit dipping. But I found that if I workout more, I feel better. The workout high replaces the nicotine high and it is far more beneficial. PM me your digits and I’ll send you mine if you need to talk or need any extra support to get through this beginning part. Support is so key. Post roll...be involved on the site. Stay tough
