I am on day 3, and let me tell ya, this is by far the hardest day for me. Days 1 and 2 were rough, but today has just been a constant strong craving to have a dip. Feel like the nic bitch is trying everything in her power to hold on on this last day. Anybody else have an ok first 2 days of quit, and then get hit with a train on the 3rd day?

Yes, you are in the suck my friend.  My day 3 was awful as well, cravings were unrelenting!  Pound water, water, and then some water.  Take a walk.  Go for a jog.  Get moving.  Exercise in any form is better than nothing. 

Sunflower seeds helped me too!

You are in the last throws of withdrawal from a serious chemical.  It's gonna suck, until it doesn't.

I am holding the line with you brother.

Just officially started my quit today at 9AM PCT. I have been utilizing chewing tobacco since i was of the age of 15 (I am now 31). Looking forward to being a part of the community here. Also going to curb my drinking as it has been a crutch for me for a long time. The best time to start is now! Very excited!
@golfmaniac12 Welcome to the group man! I’m only a day ahead of you so we’re right there. My biggest advice that’s gotten me through the past 2 days is being ready for whatever your triggers may be. I have my sunflower seeds on stand by. I drive a lot and every time I get behind the wheel it hits me like a ton of bricks. I even go to reach for my can before realizing it’s not there to reach for. But you have to remember, the strong urge and craving will pass. And POST on here! The feedback from these guys on here is unbelievable. They will push you and make you want to keep going if nothing else can. Looking forward to doing this quit with you brother!

Thanks Brett! I have the same cravings as you. Getting behind the wheel without one will be tough but there are alternatives out there to assist in getting us through. This community is great and I have already received a ton of support.  If anybody wants my number for support, just private message. Let's get after it and enjoy a better life.

@golfmaniac12, welcome to KTC. Click this link to post your first promise in the July 2021 quit group, and then keep that promise not to use any form of nicotine for the next 24 hours. Always remember that this is a cold turkey site. If you keep that promise, come back tomorrow and post your Day 2 promise. You'll catch on, brother, and if you screw something up in the process, don't sweat it. Someone will fix it and tell you how to do it.

We work ODAAT around here; that's One Day At A Time. There's no need to worry about tomorrow's quit. Today is hard enough. Do yourself a favor and READ, READ, READ. This site is a fount of knowledge and experience from new and vet quitters alike. No two quits are quite the same, but we've all been right where you are today. Get in July 2021 and start connecting with the three quitters already there.

It's also great that you're wanting to curb your drinking. Don't bite off more than you can chew at one time, though. There are forums at KTC for those who are stopping/slowing down the alcohol consumption, too. You may find one of those forums helpful, too. Here is the link. These non-dipping groups are in the "Getting My Act Together" section of the forums.

Here I am today at 400 days quit. The 4th Floor. All I can say is, God answers prayers.

The day I quit, I asked God to take my addiction, my want, my craving, to heal my body and my mind. And He did. Now He did let the devil have me for a little while, but only because He loved me and knew what I needed to happen to make it stick. I'm sure I'm one of my Shepherd's more stubborn sheep.

I've seen many quitters post statements like "I loved dipping" or "I loved the feeling of dip in my lip." Honestly, I was probably one of them. Here's what I've realized in 400 days, though. Here's what I didn't love, but what I gave up. 

I didn't love spending $50 a week on dip. Yet I let it control how I spent our money.
I didn't love not kissing my wife because I had a dip in. Yet I let it control when I got to kiss my wife.
I didn't love the looks I got from people when I had to spit in public or they saw a gross spit cup/can/bottle. Yet I let it control the impression I made on people.
I didn't love the disapproving looks and lectures from my dentist. Yet I let it control my guilt.
I didn't love the idea of getting cancer. Yet I let it control my health.

Nicotine surely didn't love me, either. What it loved was the CONTROL I gave over to it. Nic didn't take it. No, I gave it, and I kept giving it.

Until 400 days ago. Then I took it back, and I'm still taking it back ODAAT. That, I do love.

A Renegade brother posted earlier this week that he was stepping away from KTC now that he'd hit his one year milestone. He said he'd set and reached a goal, which is great, but was it the right decision?

The June 2020 Renegades of Quit reached a high of 26 members at one time, but now we are down to 9, and we've been together just over a year. One year. One year is an achievement; I will never cheapen that. For a hardcore dipper, hell, ONE DAY is an achievement. But in the grand scheme of things, 365 days certainly doesn't signify any sort of "cure" or justification for walking away from this site or this brother/sisterhood. To me, that's the wrong kind of quitter.

I was one of the first Renegades of June 2020. I quit four days after the quit month opened, so I've seen many quitters come, stay, and go. Most caved. A couple looked hard enough and found some problem to bitch about, but they weren't ever really part of the group. Others thought they'd gotten what they needed, whether it happened at 100 days or 365 days. More may leave in the future. Who knows. You're grown men and women, and you've got to do what you think is right for you; but is it? When you're not making that daily promise to your brothers and sisters in quit, who are you making it to, or are you even making it? Who's holding you accountable? When you put that very first dip in, who was there to say "That shit's gonna kill you. Don't do it"? Did you tell that to yourself? Hell no, you didn't, even though you knew it. So, are you really accountable for yourself now?

Some say that posting is a daily reminder of their problem, and if they didn't have to post, they wouldn't even think about dipping/tobacco anymore. What the fuck ever. It's SUPPOSED TO BE A REMINDER. It's supposed to remind you of all the money you spent on dip, of all the times you missed something because you were sneaking a dip, of all the missed kisses from your significant other or kids, of every warning label on a can of dip or a pack of smokes, OF THE FUCKING WORD YOU GIVE TO YOUR FELLOW QUITTERS EVERY DAY TO NOT DIP.

Most quitters spend very little time on the KTC site. They post and ghost. Yes, they're WUPPing each day like good little quitters. They're taking the MINIMUM TIME it takes to post a name and quit day count, and they they're out until the next 24 hour cycle rolls around. You know, though, when a quitter first gets here, that's damn plenty. 390 days ago, that's about all I could muster. It's different now, however. I fuel my quit by helping others fuel theirs. PAY IT FORWARD. When you really think about it, it's the second greatest commandment: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. Somebody helped you stay quit. Now it's your turn to do the same. You wanted someone to help you. Now, help someone else.

You came here to help yourself. You were told, "You've got to do this for you. Don't quit for your wife/kids/husband/parents/best friend/whatever. This has to be about you." That is all so very true. Now, though, you can grow; you can reach out and help a new quitter just like somebody helped you. It CAN be about somebody else.

When you came to KTC, it was about the "ME." Now it can be about the "WE." There's a cool baseball quote that fits here, too:

"For the strength of the team is the player, and the strength of the player is the team."

What @Bigdiesel90 , @MuleMan , and @stillbrewing , and the remaining Renegades of Quit did and continue to do for me, I want to do for others. By myself, I'm a little guy against Big Tobacco and the Nic Bitch. Together with my brothers and sisters at KTC, I am a quitting force to be reckoned with.

Thank you @GS9502. Your quit and leadership has helped to keep me quit. The renegade group along with many others have helped. If not for KTC and the daily promise, I would not be quit
I was discovering new triggers YEARS into my quit.

Goals are important. The basis of ODAAT is, in itself, a goal. But goals should be used to help fuel our quits and not a means of terminating something that has a proven track record of success.
One of the frustrating things about life and is that we have to accept that we can't control others. Matt, I respect your leadership and support of other Renegades and new quitters on the site.  Its sad when a brother or sister makes a decision to leave, but we can't control that, what we can do is focus on helping new quitters who are still here and want to be here or any quitter old or new that is struggling.  PTQWY you all today.

I was discovering new triggers YEARS into my quit.

Goals are important. The basis of ODAAT is, in itself, a goal. But goals should be used to help fuel our quits and not a means of terminating something that has a proven track record of success.

A Renegade brother posted earlier this week that he was stepping away from KTC now that he'd hit his one year milestone. He said he'd set and reached a goal, which is great, but was it the right decision?

The June 2020 Renegades of Quit reached a high of 26 members at one time, but now we are down to 9, and we've been together just over a year. One year. One year is an achievement; I will never cheapen that. For a hardcore dipper, hell, ONE DAY is an achievement. But in the grand scheme of things, 365 days certainly doesn't signify any sort of "cure" or justification for walking away from this site or this brother/sisterhood. To me, that's the wrong kind of quitter.

I was one of the first Renegades of June 2020. I quit four days after the quit month opened, so I've seen many quitters come, stay, and go. Most caved. A couple looked hard enough and found some problem to bitch about, but they weren't ever really part of the group. Others thought they'd gotten what they needed, whether it happened at 100 days or 365 days. More may leave in the future. Who knows. You're grown men and women, and you've got to do what you think is right for you; but is it? When you're not making that daily promise to your brothers and sisters in quit, who are you making it to, or are you even making it? Who's holding you accountable? When you put that very first dip in, who was there to say "That shit's gonna kill you. Don't do it"? Did you tell that to yourself? Hell no, you didn't, even though you knew it. So, are you really accountable for yourself now?

Some say that posting is a daily reminder of their problem, and if they didn't have to post, they wouldn't even think about dipping/tobacco anymore. What the fuck ever. It's SUPPOSED TO BE A REMINDER. It's supposed to remind you of all the money you spent on dip, of all the times you missed something because you were sneaking a dip, of all the missed kisses from your significant other or kids, of every warning label on a can of dip or a pack of smokes, OF THE FUCKING WORD YOU GIVE TO YOUR FELLOW QUITTERS EVERY DAY TO NOT DIP.

Most quitters spend very little time on the KTC site. They post and ghost. Yes, they're WUPPing each day like good little quitters. They're taking the MINIMUM TIME it takes to post a name and quit day count, and they they're out until the next 24 hour cycle rolls around. You know, though, when a quitter first gets here, that's damn plenty. 390 days ago, that's about all I could muster. It's different now, however. I fuel my quit by helping others fuel theirs. PAY IT FORWARD. When you really think about it, it's the second greatest commandment: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR. Somebody helped you stay quit. Now it's your turn to do the same. You wanted someone to help you. Now, help someone else.

You came here to help yourself. You were told, "You've got to do this for you. Don't quit for your wife/kids/husband/parents/best friend/whatever. This has to be about you." That is all so very true. Now, though, you can grow; you can reach out and help a new quitter just like somebody helped you. It CAN be about somebody else.

When you came to KTC, it was about the "ME." Now it can be about the "WE." There's a cool baseball quote that fits here, too:

"For the strength of the team is the player, and the strength of the player is the team."

What @Bigdiesel90 , @MuleMan , and @stillbrewing , and the remaining Renegades of Quit did and continue to do for me, I want to do for others. By myself, I'm a little guy against Big Tobacco and the Nic Bitch. Together with my brothers and sisters at KTC, I am a quitting force to be reckoned with.
