Edit post: I'm a dumb ass just quit today!  We can all do that!

If you read this before my edit I'm sorry, just a really bad day!  I quit wit all of you today.
We've all been a dumb ass, that's why we're here. Accept the fact you have eliminated the option of dipping from your life. It is no longer a choice. When the sneaky bitch starts romancing you with memories of pleasure, don't forget these are memories of lies. Replace the romance with the truth - sores, disgust, sore throat, bad breath, slavery. Hate helps, but it is only a tool. Just take away the choice of dipping and there is no other outcome but quit.

I've been quit a little over a year now. I stopped getting daily thoughts of dip around day 220. For whatever reason there was a step- change in my quit and things just seem a lot easier since then. Still have the occasional challenge, but much easier for me to just say dip is no longer an option you lying whore. Never again. Not once.

WT you have been one of the most active quitters since I've been on here. It is okay to dial it back once in a while, just make sure you get your daily promise made. Don't burn out cause you're helping a lot of quitters.

Proud to be quit with you brother.
Most excellent.

Ok, as I write this, i have a pinch of Smokey Mountain Straight Snuff in.  That's the only flavor WalMart had.  It's not bad.  I never used Straight Long Cut (always tasted too sweet), but this is not bad.  Honestly, I feel like I'm cheating.  But I guess if there is no tobacco or nicotine, it ain't a sin.
Think of it this way - with the 'fake' all natural stuff you are not killing yourself.

So why would it be cheating - its the perfect way to give big tobacco the finger and say that you do not need it.

Trick is down the road where you will not even need the fake as much anymore (I am about a tin every 2 weeks, and that is at day 69.

but its all one day at a time
If it keeps you off the 'real' thing go for it! You will eventually wean yourself off the fake but use as much as you want!

OK Fellas, I know I am going to be faced with some situations soon where I'm gonna feel so tempted to dip, but I know that I can't hide in my house the rest of my life either.  Specifically, I'm looking forward to some outdoor outings I have planned with friends soon.

At the beginning of this week, when I quit, I decided I would try and slowly pull off anything that resembled taking a dip.  Mostly I've used fireball candy, gum, seeds, and alot of beef jerky.  But I think I might need to try some of that imitation mint snuff for these outdoor outings.

What is the best? I always dipped Copenhagen Long Cut, then Grizzly Wintergreen for the last several years (cheaper).  What do you guys think?
I JUST posted a review of SMC here http://blog.killthecan.org/2012/09/smok ... ff-review/

You can find that and other reviews here: http://www.killthecan.org/yourquit/reviews.asp

Is there a particular brand you're trying to emulate?

I haven't tried it, but I know plenty of Cope LC guys swear by Hooch Classic.

Now don't jump all over me, Im just asking.  The question, after quitting, have you ever slipped up with nicotine such as a cigar or even a cigarette?  Did that derail your quit completely?  I'm gonna have to be real careful around that because even when I was dipping, I craved the smokes while I was drinking a few beers.

I'm sure I can't let that slip in.  I don't doubt that will bring back the nicotine urges again.  Hell, I'm only 5 days in, so I'm just now getting some relief from the strong physical withdrawal.  I just know I have a "Guys" weekend coming up in two weeks, and I need to be able to turn down the smokes and cigars, even after a beer.
This should answer your question...

http://blog.killthecan.org/2012/04/ciga ... e-quitter/

Those weekends can be tough. Make sure you've got your plan in place.

Funny this past weekend, I was sitting by my brother's pool. He asked me if I wanted a cigar. I said sure, that's not dipping. As I sat there, I thought about smoking that cigar. I knew that another friend would be over later that smoked. I thought, I will probably talk myself into having a cigarette since I already had a cigar. Then I thought, man! that smoking is bad for you. It is safer to dip.

I told him to forget about the cigar.......

I know I am not strong enough

Day 8 and Weekend Plan (Day 9 and 10)

Spending time with my daughter and her fiancee talking about the wedding on Saturday....I will be healthier when the wedding happens because I have quit!

Rembered a friend of the family who died about 12 years ago from his nic bitch....I need to keep remembering him and that he would not quit even after his cancer diagnosis.

I am looking forward to a day when I will just smile again. I usually keep my lips closed cause I don't like my discolored teeth and when I smile my ninja showed. All the family times that I did not smile and all the family that has noticed me not smiling and thinking I am upset or angry. I have quit today and tomorrow.

I will be strong and stay quit!
It is not mine to reason why, it is to do or die. Doing seems to be the best bet for tomorrow!
