Just wanted to say Hello and Thank You to all of you. This site has been a great help. 6 days ago I quit Cope Long Cut cold turkey after 17 years (13 in the Army) I want to thank you guys because I almost did not make my 7th day. I have yet to try the Mint leaves or pills or anything other than normal gum and a bag of chips a day. I am at the stage now where I am more of an A hole than normal, I feel bad for my wife and kids. I miss having a chew in, I never relised that I was actually addicted to it! I am open to any pointers or tips that will help keep me off the dip!

Nick
Congrats on your quit! And make sure to post roll everyday the sooner the better, It really helps me remember.. But as for the mental addiction part and just wanting something in your mouth, I use Hooch herbal snuff... It works great for me when I get to that point where I just have to have something, I was surprised how effective just the act of dipping was satisfying. Even though you can swallow the herbal stuff, try to keep spitting with it, key is to satisfy all parts of your mind.. Are you in the August quit group yet? You need to get there and post roll if not.. I quit with you today!!
Today is the Day of the rest of my Days

What's up ya'll? So today is the 1st day of the rest out my "new" life. The life without the need for Nic in it. I've been either smoking or chewing since I was about 14 or so, thanks to grandma's cigs. I have "quit" multiple times only to fall right back into the same traps. I'm optimistic this go round will be successful. Wish me luck on day 1
You can DO this flyby if you want it badly enough. There is no "luck" or "try" in here! We get the job done one DAY at a time!!! Your have come to the right place to be a successful quitter!!!

Not sure where you are in your quit, but boredom couple with alcohol can kill a quit... FAST.

So, I was at my new job and decided to google how to stop dipping and this website came up. Reading through the posts of everyones success has inspired me to take the dip out of my mouth and register for the forum. I did not want to register until i decided to quit dipping. I know it will be hard because everyone I hang out with in the military uses tobacco. I threw away my spitters and cans in the trash and feel excited about not dipping. Any helpful tips would be nice.
The most important tip I can give you is to stay away from those who dip when you have down time, and/or stay busy doing stuff that is new or is not a trigger to dip.

I quit in 97 for 10 months, then we were on lock down with nothing to do, I was killing time with my guys and they were dipping so I bummed a dip thinking it was only one and it wouldn't hurt, and the next thing you know I was at the PX buying a can. Every step after that I kept telling myself I would/could stop. So here I am some 17 years later finally stopping....again.

BTW I'm a sunflower seed eating fool these days! And I'm quit!!!!

So, I think I've had a "OMG!! That was me 157 days ago" moment.

Everyday at noon and midnight we have "midshift" meetings. We have to report to the management asshats what we have been doing since the beginning of shift. There are about 10 guys lined up shoulder to shoulder around the Unit supervisors desk. Today there was a guy two over from me that had a large ass cat turd of cope in his mouth. I could smell it! It was horrible. I might as well have had my nose buried in a freshly opened can of cope. Jesus!! that stunk. That guy moved away and I smelled something else. It was something wintergreen. Someone near had a big mouth full of something wintergreen. God almighty I swear that stuff was potent!. I can't believe that that used to be me! I have been in this situation before. Several times over the last couple of months I've been in this exact situation but the smells never bothered me that much. But tonight, it was the most stinking shit i've ever smelled. I thought I might have to move. My eyes started to water. It almost made me gag.

I think I've definetly turned a corner in my quit. I can't stand the smell of this shit. Not even the fake stuff. Here's to KTC and 157 days of quit. And here is to one more day tomorrow!!

Mike
