I quit for 6 months last year. I was a mess, popping nic losenges like candy. One day I just picked it up again. It wasn't a.complete failure. I have never gone that long without some type of tobacco.
I just flushed my last can down the toilet. I know I'm going to need help, so Its the drugstore in the morning. Gotta quit. Been using tobacco since I was 17, 8 yrs smoking, 4 yrs dipping. Both disgusting, unattractive, and unhealthy. My only concern right now is, does it ever go away(the urge to dip) I was doing so good, especially the last 2 months, no nicotine losenges and minimal cravings. I think what broke me was training in a class full of guys dipping snuff, for 3months ( I caved after about 2 weeks )Thanks for any advice.
Welcome to the site.

You will be in the May 2011 Quit Group.

Lear How to Post Roll Call here.

However, before you do...Learn WHY we post Roll Call here.

Notice we require no-nic for Roll Call....so trash any lozenges you have too. They are a bad idea and will send you to the back of the line with a Day 1 post.

Congratulations and again....welcome.

See you in May 11 Quit Group.
You know you're going to need help - and that's why you searched out this community. And that's why you're not going to use any sort of nicotine replacement therapy. Look where it got you last try.

We don't try here. We do.

Trust me, commit yourself fully to your quit each and every day, and you'll be free of this. You'll find all the help you need right here.
This is j-dub (formally 7083),

thanks. no nic for me. just going one day at a time. I think I had this false idea that the urge or cravings just go away one day. it sucks to think that it will be with me for a long long time. but I am starting to sac up and deal with it.
Cravings will diminish with time. Lots of time.

Using lozenges, or patches, is just another nicotine delivery method, and you know that.

There are things you CAN do to make the cravings less. Drink tons of water. Work out. Eat sunflower seeds. Beef Jerky. Smokey Mountain. Hooch. Oregon mints. Life Savers. Beat off. Get a BJ. GIVE a BJ. Go for a walk.

Those are just a few. Main thing is, you posted your promise today, so you need to keep it.

If you need a phone number, send me a PM.
Thanks for all the advice. I will consider all of it, except the giving head part.

Gotta tell ya. the seeds, gum, and this forum is helping. 2 days ago, a week ago or a year ago, I could not imagine cold turkey. I am doing ok so far. But I dont think the first 3 is the toughest for me....its everything after. Doin good tho....heading into day 3 now.
Give your word and then keep it.

benpo: This is the first day in a long time I will not chew. Im starting over
Aight, I'm doin good...but, I am thinking about it, on here or some other site with info, every waking moment. guess I did not realize how obsest I was about the shit. now I'm just as obsest with quitting and staying quit. Thanks for the support. and Congrats to all for quitting nic everyday and for the long stretches of time you have been able to endure.
benpo: it was definitely a hard day but it was a successful one none the less. Day 1 under my belt looking forward to day 2
