Day 5: I have Oral Thrush. Did any one else develop this as a side effect? Also is there anyway to fix the focus issue? I've been sitting at my desk at work and zoning out for what feels like hours.

Day 9. I thought I had escaped the hard core fog... sure, I had some irritability and slight headaches, but nothing terrible. Cravings, but that was to be expected. I heard others talking about sleep issues, gas, and water retention, but I thought maybe I had escaped that stuff.

Until today.

Slept like shit last night, farting like a madman, and my belts aren't cinched quite as tight as normal. And my head is splitting. So now I get it and see: go through the suck so that you only do it once... reason enough not to relapse. This too shall pass...

Work all day, home and to the gym. Water is my best friend.

Working it...

Just wanted to say hey to all you out there. This is my first post on a blog on my 42nd day completely tobacco free. I have been struggling between cigarettes and dip for about thirteen years and this is the longest I have ever lasted without either and I feel amazing. Not only the physical positive effects like my inner cheek doesn't feel like shoe leather and I can run 5 miles again with no problem. My mentality has changed as well. I am developing a "can-do" attitude now. I no longer feel like a slave to the fix. A can every two days was starting to get hard on the wallet, not to mention hard to hide it from everyone.
Funny thing was I wanted to quit for so long but never really decided to. I got very sick day after the superbowl and was bedridden for about a week. I couldn't hold down a bowl of chicken soup no less worry about dipping. So when I finally felt better I decided, hey, why not give this shit up? It was difficult picking up on my old routines without a can of cherry. Trying to take my morning shit, doing chores around the house, the drive to and from work. Forget about poker night or going out drinking! But I stuck to it. I used some old nicotine gum at first and ordered some of Jake's Mint Chew. I use them when I feel the need to, and that is becoming less and less as the days go by.
Tonight was the toughest night recently. I was surrounded by smokers and dippers at a poker game and I had about twelve beers (my favorite time to chain-lip). I had my Jake's and stuck with that and just decided to consider myself a non-user of tobacco. That's that. I succeeded and I'm really proud of myself. Drunk as I am, I still kept sight of my goal to be tobacco free.
I still feel weak though. I still feel like I'm quitting and not completely over it yet. I still have to fight the urges. But I have a frame of reference now. I know that I CAN take a long drive without it and I CAN take a shit without it and I CAN drink beers without it. It's a good feeling and I'm glad to be a part of this supportive and positive community. For my health and my wealth, for my wife and my son.

Loving this site, especially since I now get it. I am understanding how to use it, when to use it. This is awesome and the reason that this quit will be THE quit. Day 7 now (part of the Goons), and feeling good. This will be the first full weekend, which will be the test. But, I have a plan for the day and part of it revolves around keeping moving and doing.

Last night was awesome: there was a bad moment with my wife last night (her fault for once), and we straightened that out. Then she said "are you doing that shit again? I saw a bottle with the crap in it in your car." I felt triumphant when I was able to go out to the car and grab the can of shredded beef jerky I have been using as the oral substitute. It wasn't an "in your face" moment, but it was a great thing to say I quit and actually mean it and feel it is true.

Congrats on a great decision. Welcome.

Please know that this is a nicotine free site. Feel free to post in the introduction and here in the general discussion, but know that those are the only 2 areas of the forums where any nicotine is tolerated.

I'd stronlgy urge you to dump the nic-containing version of Triumph, post a day 1 with your quit group and truly start your quit. Until your'e 100% nicotine free you A) can't be a part of a quit group and B) won't really start your recovery.

We won't ever tell you it's easy... it's not. But it's 100% worth the freedom you'll gain.

Can't wait to see a nic-free roll call post from you!

I walked out nic free with juice in gum in my bag. I felt like a dragon born yelling foos ro dah at a chicken

Hi Lewis - welcome!!!

The quit groups are based on your quit date.

If I'm doing the math correctly based on your intro, you're on day 70 today. That would put you as part of the April 2015 HOF class.

topic/10847546/
Quit Dates: 12/23/2014-1/21/2015

Let me know if that's not right and we can point you in the right direction!

Drew2 is right... "hoping" to quit won't get you quit.

Actually QUITTING is what you're doing, and can continue to do.

Keep up the great work man!
