heading into day 4. still doing OK. got a little jittery last night because I wasn't distracted. spent 30 min with the heavy bag in the garage and then went to bed. doing ok now.

I am not questioning your tactics. I have no doubt they have worked for you and all the people here, I appreciate all the support and advice. really. you're wondering about my motives. as for why I decided to quit, I really don't have a good answer. wed. morning, instead of turning into the 7/11 and buying a tin, I didn't. I guess it was time for a change. I'm not angry. I don't think anyone was trying to kill me. I had consistently made a bad decision every third day by turning into the 7/11 and buying another tin based on an addiction. Or maybe, more accurately, it based on a poor set of psychological assumptions about what I was doing, and the circumstances the I associated with those decisions. thankfully, at this point, the only adverse consequences of my poor decisions has been money pissed away. and hopefully, by quitting now, that will be the only adverse consequence.

thank you for your continued support, and I'll go and post up.

Yes. Please go post up. I think deep down you "have some answers" about why you quit, but I'm not gonna bust your balls about it. You're 4 days quit and I respect that. Still think you're attitude isn't very good but I'm here to support you anytime you need it. Pm me anytime.

I have a feeling if you stick with this quit, the tone and attitude of your posts will change. Hope I'm right.

Mark, (In my best non-hostile voice),

Go to the Feb 2013 quit group. Post your quit pledge each day earlier the better.

If you have any questions on how to do this go to the WELCOME CENTER, above and read all about it.

We want and will support you but you have to be committed and bring the quit 1 day at a time.

This system works. Don't set yourself up for failure. Work the system.

Your Feb 2013 quit group is waiting for you. Oh, any burn all those "I love Cope" t-shirts you own too.
Enough is enough. Time to take control back from the nic bitch. My HOF speechGR8WHITEBUFFALO

Yeah, were hostile alright. When you realize the lines of bullshit you have put so much faith in are all lies your going to be hostile too.

That little copper headed fuck bucket you think you enjoy so much ain't nothin but a tub full of cancer.

You'll learn how it doesn't actually relax you. Thats just the relief from withdrawl your feeling. That will kinda get you pissed

Then you'll learn how much time you spent the last 24 years avoiding relationships, friends, family, social engagements, etc so you could dip.
That'll kinda ruffle your feathers as well.

Then you'll start realizing the damage that shit does to your heart, sex life, brain, and gut. The fact that nicotine is more lethal ounce for ounce than cobra venom may suprise you. Might get ya down right hostile.

Maybe you'll start to wonder how they can sell a product that when used properly will kill you. Cancer isn't the only way, but it gets you eventually.

Then my addicted pal, you'll realize how much money you've wasted on a ridiculous weed. My number has 4 digits in it. How bout yours? pissed yet?

finally your going to realize your an addict. The only difference between you and a crack head is your choice of drugs. When you fully understand that little gem, I guarantee your going to be a bit hostile.

The hostility you feel is only directed at you because your the mirror image of all of us on day 3.

90% of the guys here posted something just like you at one point. about missing it, or it being a friend , or a crutch, or some other nonsense, they stuck around and now they know the truth, and it pisses them of to realize how decieved we once were.

US Tobacco can kiss my hairy ass if they think they are ever gettin another penny from me. I wouldnt spit on those death dealers if they were on fire. Hostile? nah I'm fucking murderous.
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Hey Mark, read this.

index.php?showtopic=4525

Nicotine never did anything for you, this is what these guys are trying to tell you.

Stick with the program, you will understand in time. I promise.

If you don't stick with the program, you will never know.

Honesty does not make you a pussy. Writing a love letter to dip does. Stick around and remain quit for 100 days and then tell us you honestly love dip.

Still would like to hear why you quit and why you're worth supporting.
Mark -

it is not hostility that you are seeing. What it is, is alot of gents that have been in the position that you are currently in, AND they are trying to make you understand that to maintain a strong quit, that you must be in it 100%. You must think, you must feel, you must talk and write QUIT.

Listen to what they are saying, make it a part of the quit that you want. You are here, you reached out and this is our way of saying welcome to the group and wanting you to be in the right frame of mind in order for your quit to be successful.

So straighten up, and kick that nic bitch right between the eyes and tell her good bye.

Not Hostility, truth. Every last thing that has been said after your intitial post has been the truth. Many times the truth is hard to hear but it might just save a life.
It's time to think about the things you HATE about dip, and also to consider the possibility that many of the things you think you "love" about dip are simply nothing more than fantasies created by an addict brain that will do anything to get a nicotine fix.

You need to be proactive about this and actively battle that part of you that is drawn to your addiction. Post roll, honor your promise, repeat. Eschew slavery. Choose Freedom.

Hostility aside, if you like it so much...why quit?

You serious about quitting? If so, then there are some things you've got to get your head wrapped around.

1. You DO NOT love nicotine or tobacco. I once thougth the same thing.
2. You DO love the result of relieving withdrawal symtoms.
3. As soon (even seconds) after a dip looses its nicotine, your addiction begins causing withdrawal symptoms.
4. Your brain only knows one way to alleviate that: more nicotine.
5. So, your sense of pleasure is being held hostage.
6. After you've been quit a while, you will begin to gain pleasure from other things.
7. "Normal" people (non-addicts) already know what those things are.

Here are some questions:
- Do you love giving yourself cancer?
- Do you love destroying your teeth and gums?
- Do you love having your family avoid you? (I never noticed how much.)
- Do you love your throat burning?
- Do you love spending your hard-earned on increasingly expensive shit that is killing you?
- Do you love being constantly burdened with a spit cup/bottle/puddle?

Post up that day one and let's do this thing. You know you need to.
