So far, so good. 7 days into this. My biggest challenge the last few days has been my inability to focus on the simplest of tasks. I guess this is the fog.

I work on the computer all day, and I'm trying to get some end of month paperwork in this morning. I swear.. I think okay, i need to do X... a minute later I'm just looking at my screen wondering what the heck....

I went to the grocery store last night with a list from my wife. She's asking me this morning, where the paper towels are??? I tell her I know I bought them... After looking around for a min, she decides to go look in the trunk of the car. To her and my surprise, there they are. But, I'd left the trunk open all night with the car sitting in front of the house. It's just weird, cause I'm not like that at all. I'm not the type or person who misplaces things, forgets things, etc.

This is what we call "winning".

I've swapped a few numbers. Feeling pretty good about things so far. Although this weekend will be interesting. It's a hectic time of year with end of school activities for the kids and I'll be at the range most of the day Saturday and Sunday.

...It's kind of funny, I sit here thinking about going to the range without copenhagen. Thinking, wow, this might be tough. But then, I put a little perspective on it, and it's not any different than any other thing I do. It has all involved a pinch between the cheek and gum. I'll push it out one thing at a time, one day at a time. I will win.
Good to hear you have those numbers and accountability in place. Make sure you use them when you need them. This weekend is most likely going to be one of those times. Have a plan in place for when you are craving. It is going to happen, and if you have no plan, then you are planning to fail. Good job making it to day 4

Thanks for the welcome. It was pretty cool to find this website. I'm sure community will be helpful. I stumbled across it looking for an idea of when the urges would stop. I remembered from last time that the first week was the worst, and it gradually got better from there. It probably took me a year before it stopped popping into my head from time to time.

One thing I've learned is that there is no chance of this thing sticking unless I'm doing it because I want to. That can be a hard place to get to, and it's taken me a couple of years to get my head on straight about it again. Ironically enough, it hit me as I was driving home on Memorial Day.

The good news is, I know I can whip it. I just can't ever let my guard down again... even if it's 30 years down the road.
Post roll every day here at KTC. That's how you keep your guard up.

Welcome to KTC. Make sure to reach out and make a few friends. It'll help your quit 10X.
Welcome SS - Grizz speaks he truth. The more you dive in the greater your chance of success. Meet some guys in September and exchange numbers. This is my first web board experience and it has greatly exceeded my expectations. I'm 26 days quit for the first time in 25 years.

Welcome spitstickler, you have made a great decision to quit nicotine for good. I have a similar story as I was once "stopped" for over 400 days and another time for over 150 days. I caved to nicotine due to me not having any accountability to stay quit, and I never had a plan for when the nic bitch would sneak up and grab me by the balls.

KTC is here to give you those tools, and to help you stay accountable we post roll call every day with our quit groups. You are going to be a part of the September 2014 quit group. Posting roll is the absolute foundation of this site and why this site works. We post roll call everyday and that is our daily promise to everyone here that we are not going to use nicotine in any form for that day. We stay quit one day at a time (ODAAT) and we focus on just that day. I know that in the beginning that it feels like you are fighting for one minute at a time but do what you need to do to protect your quit.

Also get to know some people on the site to stay accountable with. I suggest gathering a few phone numbers and email's so that you can stay in touch with fellow quitters. This site works, stay close to the site and read read read.
That's a pretty eye opening intro for me and a strong reminder that we can never again have "just one" That sucks that you have to start over but we are glad you are here. Post roll everyday and make some friends to lean on. This is a really cool community. I could not have quit without these brothers and sisters of quit! I don't have any pearls of wisdom for you as you have been through this before. Just know there are a lot of us here to help if you need anything.
Similar story. 3 years "stopped" before. No accountability = cave. Glad you are here. I'm on day 91 and loving it more than I can say.

2 basic rules here:
1). Post Roll Daily
2). Honor your word

Get involved and make some friends. We are all in this together.
Crick - 4 years ago today I found KTC. After 29 years of putting the poison into my body, I finally found the tool which helped me quit. It's not easy, but KTC works. Make your promise everyday and read every moment you get.
