5 beers in and LSU game on the way. Cravings have been bad. Using my mint chew as we speak. So far, so good. This is only my 2nd time in 7 days having to reach for an alternative.
Alcohol makes it tougher at the beginning. Stay close to the site bud. Enjoy the game.
The beers nor the game is worth dipping again! Be smart! Goodluck tigers!
Alcohol has killed many new quits.

Do not let your mind get bent because you are drinking. It lowers your inhibitions, and it will make saying no all the more difficult. Don't be the dumb ass who shows up posting a Day 1 because you drank too much and grabbed a dip because "it was there".

If you posted your word today, then today should be no different than any other day, and dip should be off the table. That's how this works. Be a man of your word and be Quit.

Tobacco is so addictive it took me a year after a massive heart attack, in which doctor confirmed caused from dipping to finally put a lid on the bitch! ODAAT EDD

I'm glad Auburn pulled it out. I don't want them coming to Baton Rouge mad next weekend.

That's great DRock!

I'm on day 8 and I have yet to break into a cold sweat today. This is the first day of no sweating since I started my quit last Saturday. B)B

That Auburn game was nuts. I can't believe the Jacksonville coach decided to let the clock run out and go to overtime.... :P

I promise to root for LSU if you promise to make it to day 8!

Moving on through day 7. College football hasn't gotten me yet. My team, LSU, still set to play. That will be the big challenge.

Updates:

Sleepless last night again, even with the meds, hypnosis, etc. Insomnia has been off and on.

Anxiety has also been better, but off and on.

Cravings increasing considerably.

I keep going from constipation to upset stomach and back and forth.

Overall, my mouth feels okay. Days 3-5 were great as far as how my mouth felt. I still have a random ulcer on my cheek that hurts off and on. Also getting random gum/tooth pain, also off and on. But, as I've mentioned, I had 4 wisdom teeth (2 impacted) removed about 4 weeks ago so some of this could be lingering from that. Plan to make another appt with the dentist soon. As
Also previously mentioned, I went through a month of deep cleaning that I was told reversed whatever issues I was having with my gums (despite bone loss and regression, but nothing bad enough that they referred me to a periodontist).

It's becoming more of a roller coaster than it was initially.

Pray for me, I'll pray for you.

Thanks, as always, for the support.

Jake himself replied to my email within 10 minutes. Just as I thought, he said that anything placed between your gums and cheek could cause problems. But, it's better than the alternative. As a company, as counterproductive as it sounds, he says that they wish for everyone to only use the mint stuff for a brief period to help with the oral fixation. They're not there for long term customers.

The mint stuff wasn't overly enjoyable, but it did help. I may try it a few more times, when needed. But then I'll move away from that. I have all 12 flavors so we'll see.
I used Smokey Mountain herbal snuff for the first 50 days or so. Tried Jake's, too. What he told you is pretty much spot on in that anything resting between your cheek and gum causes irritation. I'll level with you honestly - my mouth didn't truly start to heal until I stopped using the fake stuff, too.

Hooooowever, the number one priority should be putting as much distance between you and nicotine as possible. Use the fake stuff as much as you need to. Then the day will come like it has for me and many others where you either find yourself not using it as much, or in my case, saying "I really don't think I need this anymore" and stopping altogether.

As a dude who has basically been going to the dentist weekly as of late to get crowns and fillings done, I can understand that you want your mouth healed up. Believe me, I totally get it. But if you keep the nicotine in ANY form away from you and just use what tools you have, you'll get there. Just be patient with yourself.

I'm there with you, in spirit. Five days of football and no dipping. NFL on Thursday, High school on Friday, college on Saturday, NFL on Sunday and Monday.

We'll all get through this.
Howdy. They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and I'm a writer who collects pokey things. Basically you're boned either way.

My first (second, actually) attempt with Jake's Mint Chew. My only concern with this is the impact it will have on my gums. Obviously, it's better than putting a dip in but I'd still like an answer as to whether or not it will irritate/further harm/or prevent my gums from healing. I have an email in to the company right now. This attempt is much better than the first. The first time it was messy and got all over my mouth, etc. This time I made sure to pinch and place like an amateur. I used to just throw a wad of dip in and place it with my tongue. So far, so good.
In my opinion I use baccoff and it irratates my gums and tongue and from what I've gotten from others is pretty much same. Pull them boxers up snug , grab your sac and get this done! I dipped 38 year's , I'm on 258 nic free day's! I know damn well its n9 harder for you than me, it all comes down to how bad you want it! Quit on!
This isn't an attempt. This is a quit.

In s few weeks you'll probably grow bored with the fake and throw it out. For now, do whatever you have to do to avoid nicotine. That is the only priority.

It will get better. Let me say that again... It will get better. What you are experiencing today is not what life will be like. I promise.
