It helps/helped me to face it head on. If the craving hits, take a minute to face it and say "no". Don't let it fester. It's hard, but all you have to do is say no for this moment.

Hang in there! Be a badass quitter and tell the nic bitch suckit!

I quit with you! Mike
Man up and be a quitter ODAAT. Post Roll EDD. It works.

Congrats on making a great choice, Jeff!!! Four days is huge. But it's just the start. You've gotten great advice from the bad-asses above. But I wanted to throw in my two cents...

The trick is staying quit, right? Well, the attitude you have when you start anything largely determines your success. Choose to recognize the heroic shit you're doing. Embrace the suck. Quitting is a privilege reserved to those who have the guts to do it. YOU DID!!!

Choose to see withdrawal symptoms and triggers as reminders of the bad-ass thing you're doing. Click around in the Quit Groups...not only your group, but a few other months and years. Then recognize that all of those folks have been where you are right now and they are winning ONE DAY AT A TIME. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Yes, quitting sucks. But turn the tables on the Nic Bitch. CHOOSE to think of it this way...you GET to feel this shitty because you MADE the choice. You GET to feel like crap now, so that you keep your tongue and jaw. You GET to avoid feeding tubes and chemotherapy. You GET to avoid disfiguring surgeries. Those things won't be your future. All of a sudden quitting doesn't look so bad, huh?

Nicotine is out of your system. Congrats!!! You're running clean for the first time in a long time. CONGRATS. You get to avoid a parade of miserable experiences. CONGRATS!!! You get to bullshit on this site with others who not only know what you're going through, but are happy to discuss it. There are nothing but positives here...choose to see it that way.

Congrats, Jeff!!! You got this!!!

Jeff, it does get better day by day. Use this intro to log how much it sucks right now... you don't ever want to go through a Day 1 again! Every hour, every day without nicotine helps your body heal.

Otherwise, drink lots of water, less coffee ( nicotine fights caffeine, no nic use less caffeine).

Go post roll, exchange digits and get support on your quit.

I started my quit on Monday of this week...seems like the quit is getting harder and not easier. I have come across this site in the past and figured it was time to join and post..I'm going f'ing crazy but I'm not giving in this time!!
It gets a lot easier. Just tell yourself that you won't dip every time the chance comes up. Don't buy any, don't bum any. A week of so of suffering is nothing compared to the pain of cancer.
I'm with you as well with quitting this week brother. The 1st 3 days were tough as the nicotine left the body. Now we can be proud that it has left us physically. Mentally will be another challenge but together we can do it. Stay strong my friend.

Howdy. They say the pen is mightier than the sword, and I'm a writer who collects pokey things. Basically you're boned either way.

Hi JeffA, I think you are eligible for the December 2015 quit group - look under the "Quit Groups" section. It is pretty simple, you add your name to the roll call everyday. This is your promise to not use nicotine for the next 24 hours. Then stay quit and repeat the next day. Read all that you can on this site, there is a ton of great information.

Day 4 by yourself is pretty hardcore dude. You've come a long way.

And good news you don't have to do it alone anymore - you can put your name on that list with mine.

I quit with you.
